Bicentenary Events

Programme A6 d-s

Pick up a programme of events from the church, or from the halls entrance (card as shown on the left) so that you know what is coming up!

There is a variety of events planned, the first two celebrating our roots in celtic Christianity:

Saturday 21st March – Day of Spiritual Renewal in the Church from 10am to 4pm, led by Roy Searle of the Northumbria Community       (Roy will also be preaching at morning services on 15th March).

April 23rd/24th – Pilgrimage to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

May (all Sundays after Services) – Picking the stones for the cairn.

Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June – Flower Festival in the Kirk, including Community Tea on Saturday 13th June.

July (Wednesday mornings) – Five walks in the community open to all, led by members of the congregation.

July 1st – 23rd – Labyrinth in the Centre Court (the garden behind the church halls)

Saturday 22nd August – Family Fete in the Centre Court and the church halls – something for all the family, young and old.

Sunday 30th August – Dedication of the Bicentenary Cairn.

Saturday 26th September and Sunday 27th September – Open Days in the Kirk

Saturday 24th October – Gala Concert in the Kirk, showcasing some of the talents in the congregation.

Saturday 21st November – Ceilidh in the Kirk Centre.

Sunday 13th December – Dedication and Burial of Time Capsule and, sadly, the end of our Bicentenary Celebrations!

Hopefully there will be a good surplus from all the celebration events listed above, and this will be given to a project organised by Tearfund aimed at providing clean water for communities in Uganda.    Liberton has a historic association with wells at Springwell and Balmwell, and this will therefore be an appropriate project on which to spend the money from our celebrations.
