Thy Kingdom Come – 2022

As a Church we were part of the global prayer venture – Thy Kingdom Come.

This prayer continues around the world!
Thy Kingdom Come 2022 prayer venture will be running 26 May – 5 June.

Each Sunday at Midday over the past 12 months we have been re-visiting one of the 11 daily themes….and this time we turn our thoughts to Thy Kingdom Come 2022….

Daily Devotions for Sunday 22nd May, 2022

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : ROMANS 7 verse 17-20

Meditation : take time and consider this passage this particular Sunday morning.
Human conflict within.
Sin lives in me.

What do the words mean for you today?
What is God teaching/reminding you and what is your response?

And then pray in response – using Paul’s honest words as you turn to prayer

God of amazing grace
We bow before you
We believe in you
We trust in you
We need you
Even today
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Midday

Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening

Reading : read these particular verses again from ROMANS 7
Reflect on the truths behind these honest words and then Pray in response to this God

I say to the LORD, “You are my God.”
Hear my cry for help, LORD!
My Sovereign LORD, my strong defender,
you have protected me in battle.

O LORD, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for the blessings of this Sunday
As we believe and trust in you
As we pilgrimage on into this new week
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sunday Evening Prayer with Others

As we step into a new week – with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from ROMANS 6 verse 13 – as we continue to consider the GOOD NEWS about Jesus through 2022

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer as the day closes

We REJOICE in the blessings He has given this Sunday – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our world at this time

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow and the week ahead

Thy Kingdom Come 2022

Have you picked up your booklet(s) from the Welcome Desks in the Kirk or the Offering House?
A helpful Prayer Journal, a Novena based on 1 Peter and a Cheeky Pandas booklet (for those young children) are now available to help us as we journey through Thy Kingdom Come 2022 – 26th May-5th June.

Thy Kingdom is explained in this way on the website…..www.thykingdomcome.global
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus.

Since its start in May 2016 God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a movement. Christians from 172 countries have taken part in praying ‘Come Holy Spirit’, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

This praying together has been across our diversity and differences as every person, household and church are encouraged to pray in their own way. According to our annual survey findings an astonishing percentage of people said they were praying for family and friends to come to faith in Jesus, and a significant number of people join in for the first time, we recognise there is much more we can do together to help Thy Kingdom Come be fully in the lifeblood of the Church.

During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:
• Deepen their own relationship with Jesus Christ
• Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Jesus
• Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

After the very first Ascension Day the disciples gathered with Mary, constantly devoting themselves to prayer while they waited for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Like them, our reliance on the gift of the Holy Spirit is total – on our own we can do nothing.

Through the centuries Christians have gathered at that time to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit. ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ picks up this tradition. Over the years more and more worshipping communities have dedicated the days between Ascension and Pentecost to pray ‘Come Holy Spirit’.’
