Kirkgate Cafe

About Us

Kirkgate café is a community café staffed by a café manager and volunteers from local churches and within the community.  The café is a nice space to meet family and friends for a cuppa and some homemade baking.  Scones are made fresh daily and taste delicious, but you do have to be in early to get some as they sell out fast. During lunch we serve filled rolls, sandwiches and toasties.  Our specials are a variety of homemade soup, filling mains and delicious desserts all made in the café kitchen.  We can cater for most dietary needs – all you need to do is inform the volunteers at the counter.

During your visit to the café you can enjoy free WiFi.

Follow our Facebook page @Kirkgate café for updates of what going on.  Come along and treat yourself and see what makes Kirkgate such a lovely place to be.

10 years of Kirkgate Café

Kirkgate café opened it doors 2nd February 2015 which means we have now been open 10 years and are still going from strength to strength. That is due to the dedicated team of volunteers.

Kirkgate café was a dream of Ann Weir’s for years and the story behind it is captured in this short video

Norma Brown managed the café and volunteers for 7 years and gave the café a great start and built it up. Then in June 2022 Jenny Thomasi took over the manager role when Norma went off to start a new community café.  Jenny has continued to grow the café and has helped the café celebrate by having four events over 2025.

Courtyard

Attached to the café we have a beautiful sun trap courtyard open during the Spring and Summer months. It is a lovely place to come along and sit in the sun enjoying a cuppa and cake.  This space is a favourite of dog walkers and can be accessed by going into the car park and through the gate on the right-hand side.

Fairtrade Products

Within Kirkgate café we sell some fairtrade products such as Burt crisps, Divine chocolate and flavoured cartons of milk. These are located on a shelf next to the counter.

Gift Vouchers

We sell £5 gift vouchers which are nice as a gift or a way of saying thank you to someone, purchased these at the till

You are always welcome!
