Daily Devotions for Saturday 1st January, 2022
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit
Reading : ROMANS chapter 1
Meditation : take time to consider these opening words of Paul’s letter to the Church in Rome.
What is God teaching/reminding you today?
What words stay with you?
And then Pray in response to what you read – to this God of ours.
Pray for God’s blessing today for yourself and for another in the Church family
In Jesus’ name
Amen and Amen!
Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer
Thank you our God
For sending Jesus
The Good News
In our world
Thank you Jesus
That you came
From heaven to earth
As our Good News
Holy Spirit
Inspire us
Enable us
To share this Good News
In our street
In Liberton
In Scotland
In our world
In Jesus’ name
Amen and Amen.
Evening
Reading : read ROMANS chapter 1 again – in another version?
Reflect on this God, your God, our God…. and then Call on Him in your evening Prayer
LORD God, our God, receive our praise
For who You are
For your blessings given even today
And as we give it all back to you
May you continue to reach and save people
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done across our world
In our community, in our city.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
New Years’ Eve Prayer with Others
As we step into a new year – with God – together
We PAUSE with Him in prayer
We REJOICE in the blessings He has given in 2021
We ASK for His presence, peace and strength in 2022 – for ourselves and for others
We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways in the days and months to come
A Midday Prayer – as we step into 2022
(thank you Church of Scotland for this)
Prayer Wall 2021-2022
As we journey from 2021 into 2022 is there a prayer that sums up your journey with God? Is there someone you would like prayer for?
The Prayer Wall on the Kirk website is available for you.
The Prayer Team will see your request and will support you/another in prayer at this time.
You can request for your prayer not to be made public.
You are invited to post a prayer at this significant time of the year – and trust God for His answer and help and blessing.
Daily Devotions for JANUARY 2022
From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus and an apostle chosen and called by God to preach his Good News.
Romans 1 verse 1
During 2022 we will be looking daily at the theme of GOOD NEWS as we journey with Paul through his letter to the ROMANS – and pausing at our times of Midday Devotion to pray for others in our church family, our city and our world.
We will also focus on ISAIAH in the Summer weeks and make time for Lent, Easter, Thy Kingdom Come, Advent and Christmas 2022!
It is all about JESUS in 2022!
So take time…make time…and chew over God’s written Word with Him as we consider God’s Good News with Paul and the Romans. We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ through this coming year.
These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
