Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit, on this Sunday

Reading : 1 John 3 verse 1
Meditation : take time to consider the great truths in this one verse!!
How much does God love you?   Is God your Father God?
How should we expect the world to deal with us and our faith?

Pray in response – with praise and thanksgiving – to this God!
LORD God, Father God,
Thank You for….so much!
Help me to….trust You more for all You are doing!
Hear my prayer of gratitude this morning
In Jesus’ name I ask.
Amen.

Take time to listen for God to speak with you – ask, seek, knock – hear!
O God, thank you!

Evening

Reading : read this one verse again from the start of chapter 3

Reflect on the truths beyond the words and then Pray in praise with thanks to our God …
O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear our prayers this evening.

Meditation : consider what John is teaching here
Are you looking forward to Christ’s return? Why/why not?

Pray in response…..to put verse 29 into practice!
O Returning Messiah and Lord,
Fill me with this hope
And help me this day – to be ever ready.
In Your Name- Amen.

Pray for believers facing persecution for their faith in Jesus in our world
O LORD, hear our prayers. 

Evening

Reading : read these two verses again

Reflect on the words written by John….. and Pray in response to have this great hope!
Spirit of the Living God, hear our evening prayers.

Tuesday is Upper Room day – once again

Will you visit this place this particular Tuesday – for the first time perhaps?

Each Tuesday the hall above the Kirkgate Café becomes the Upper Room…..a quiet place with various spaces….comfy sofas, chairs, music, journals, readings, pebbles and a cross to pause in front of…….to help you have  time out with God…….from 7.30am to 7.30pm. You are very welcome to come and make use of this time and space as and when you want during these hours.

At 7.30-8.00am, 12.00-12.30pm and 7.00-7.30pm there are times to share with others in prayer and comment at the Daily Devotions.

The Café downstairs is open from 9.30am-2.00pm Monday – Thursday……with a great menu…great prices…..and of course friendly staff!!

Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God

Reading :  1 John 2 verses 18-27
Meditation :  take time to consider this part of the Bible and what these words teach you about the enemies of Christ – and His followers. What is God saying to you today?

And then Pray in response
LORD God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
Teach me from Your Living Word,
Protect me in Christ Jesus,
That Your kingdom come, your will is done
On earth in this world
In my street, my home and my life.
Amen and Amen.

as a follower of Jesus…..what is God saying to you from them? What must you do in response?

Pray in response…to keep in step with the Holy Spirit in this world
Spirit of God,
Hear my cry and
Fall anew on me.
Break and melt and mould and fill me
All over again
From the inside out,
And guide my daily steps
At work, rest and play,
In this world where I live,
This day I pray
Amen…in Jesus’ Name.

Pray for Edinburgh and Scotland to experience God’s saving grace
God of grace and mercy…hear our prayers.

Meditation :  take time to consider the truths John wrote to other believers at this point in his letter
– what was he hoping they would understand? What is God saying to you from them?

Pray in response to this God who has called us to live holy lives
Lord Jesus
I read these words,
Teach me what they mean for me today
And how I should then live for You – whatever my age!
Even this day.
 Amen I pray.

Pray God’s blessing on your postman
O LORD God, hear our prayers and bless him/her real good in their lives.
