Daily Devotions for Tuesday 7th December, 2021

Upper Room day – time out with God

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : REVELATION 2 verses 1-7

Meditation : as we pause with God we consider what is said here to this church.
What do the verses teach you about yielding to God’s ways?

And then Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to pray for your own church family

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
I have read these words
And now I pray for you to work them out
as a living reality in my church life – even today
as I thank you that you are with us
on our journey through life.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
…..and respond to His voice….
Father God…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read the opening verses again from REVELATION 2
Reflect prayerfully on these words…. And then pray as your day closes

LORD God, our great God,
Thank you for being there with me
For all of today
I thank You,
Even for those things that have caused me fear and concern.
Give blessing to your Church in these days I ask.
Have mercy O Lord!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Evening Advent Prayers with Others

As your Monday closes you are invited to pause and pray with others in our Church Family as we journey through this season of Advent

You may want to revisit the Daily Devotions for today from JAMES 4 verses 1-12

You are encouraged to follow the pattern of P-R-A-Y which we have found to be a blessing from Lectio365/24-7 Prayer

P ause in God’s presence – acknowledge He is with you where you are

R ejoice in the blessings of this day He has given

A sk
for His help – for yourself and for a situation/person known to you at this time

Y ield to His Kingdom will for tomorrow – say yes!

Advent Tuesday Time-Out

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.

As we journey through the season of Advent, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – for the first time?

* To find space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – for yourself and for others at this significant time of the year
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and those who gather will be glad to share these with you.

You are also invited to take a meaningful walk to the Kirk building…….starting at the Offering House….which is open for you to visit….and has an interesting exhibition inside about the Christmas Story!
You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of new coronavirus cases you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of yielding with God’s written Word in December – and you may want to pause to pray at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.
And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

Daily Devotions for Monday 6th December, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God, the Eternal One

Reading : 1 PETER 2 verses 13-25

Meditation : take time to consider these particular words as your day starts.
What is God saying to you today from His written Word?

Then take time to Pray in response

LORD God,
Thank you that we can trust You
Thank you that you are faithful
Thank you that you are with us
Even today
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on the Leprosy Mission at work in Myanmar
O LORD, hear our prayers at this time of day and give blessing we ask.

Evening

Reading : read the verses again from 1 PETER 2

Reflect on their meaning for you and pray in response…to this God of ours

O Living and True God, our heavenly Father, hear our evening prayers
As we pause to worship You for who You are
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us even today.
O pour out a blessing on those we name before You
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
