Thy Kingdom Come – at Midday – Youth Sorry

As a Church we were part of the global prayer venture last year in the 11 day run up to Pentecost – Thy Kingdom Come. This year the venture runs 18-28 May.

This prayer continues around the world throughout the year!

Each Sunday at Midday we are re-visiting one of the daily themes….and this time we revisit the Youth videos and the theme of SORRYas we watch and listen on this Sunday in February 2023….

Daily Devotions for Sunday 12th February, 2023

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : MATTHEW 9 verses 35-38
Meditation : take time to consider these words on this Sunday.
Jesus has Pity…Compassion
What words or images stay with you?
What is God teaching/reminding you this morning?

And then pray in response,
Naming others known to you in need at this time

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from MATTHEW 9 verses 35-38
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response at the end of your day

O LORD, our Great Hope,
We bring our evening sacrifice of praise to you
For who you are
As we acknowledge You our Help even this day.
As we name others in need
As we pray for the Church in all corners of our world
To sing and speak of Jesus.
In His saving name, Amen.

Saturday Evening Prayer with Others

As we step into Sunday….. with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from MATTHEW chapter 9 verses 18-34– as we start to consider TELLING OTHERS THE GOOD NEWS about Jesus through 2023.

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer as the day closes

We REJOICE in the help and blessings He has given this particular Saturday – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our church family and our nation and in our world at this time – especially prayerfully supporting the people and leaders of Turkey and Syria

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

Daily Devotions for Saturday 11th February, 2023

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : MATTHEW 9 verses 18-34
Meditation : take time to consider these verses and events this morning.
Jesus.
The daughter of an official.
The woman who touched.
Two
blind men.
Jesus.
Whose story stays with you?
What is your picture of Jesus like now?

And then Pray in response
For yourself
For others

O LORD
I look up to you,
Up to heaven, where you rule.

Hear my morning prayer
Hear the morning prayers of your people

As we bow before You
As we ask of You

In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

Dear Lord,
Matthew teaches us that You care intensely about people.
Most notably those who are on the margin of society; the aged, the blind,
The infirm, the psychotic, and even those
whom we would naturally distrust.
Give us encouragement and grace to follow Your example,
that we may show Your Glory in our lives.
Amen

Evening

Reading : read these verses again from MATTHEW 9 verses 18-34
Reflect on these events as you look back over the day and then Pray in response

LORD
I look up to you,
Up to heaven, where you rule.

Hear my evening prayer
Hear the evening prayers of your people

As we bow before You
As we ask of You

In Jesus’ name.
Amen
