Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Three in One

Reading : ISAIAH chapter 40 verses 18-26
Meditation : consider afresh what is said here as your day starts.
God Incomparable
Creator God
Holy God

What is your response to God’s written Word today?
What truths will you hold onto today?

Then turn to pray to this God in response

O LORD our God
Thank you for these words
And all they teach me about who you are.
Receive my sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
And help me keep my eyes upward this day
My God
My Creator
Holy One
Amen and Amen

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on Street Pastors on duty across Scotland this evening
O LORD, give help and hear our prayers we ask this day.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from ISAIAH chapter 40 verses 18-26
Reflect on the words you have read and then pray in response – to this God, our God

LORD God, our God,
God who deserves our thanks
Our hoped-for Messiah God,
Hear the evening prayers of your people
Keep our eyes upward we ask
For we are indeed in need of rescue from this world

As we pause with God today we consider these particular words

Good News!
Israel’s God – incomparable!

What do these words mean for you today?
Who will you tell Good News to today?

And then respond in prayer with this God.

O Sovereign LORD
We can but worship you this day
Bowing in adoration before You
We can but ask for those in need or trouble this day O LORD
As we call out to you for our world in these days
Keep us close to Jesus we ask
In His name we pray, Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask and seek and knock……and hear
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from ISAIAH chapter 40 verses 9-17
Reflect…. and then Pray as your day closes

Sovereign LORD
The God of saving grace,
My God, our God,
Hear our evening prayers
As we thank you for your help today
As we journey from today to tomorrow
As we name others we care about before you

Pray in response – to this God, the God of hope and comfort and forgiveness

Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of confession and trust
Of need – for yourself and others

O LORD, have mercy on each and all and give help we ask

What encourages and challenges you today?
What words stay with you?

And then pray in response to the LORD our God
Pray your own prayer as you step into today.
Looking again at verses 6 and 7

In Jesus’ Wonderful Name, Amen.

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
