Daily Devotions for Saturday 16th May, 2020

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : HEBREWS 10 verses 19-23

Meditation : take time to consider these words of hope this morning.
Jesus – our Great High Priest!
What encourages and challenges you today?

And then Pray in response – looking again at verse 22 as you turn to pray

O Holy and Merciful God,
Hear my morning prayer
As I bow before you
As I thank you for Jesus
As I confess my sins
As I lay myself
And this day
Before you
In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer

Almighty God, sitting enthroned in the heavens, we praise you because you, our Father, are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. In these days of constant change & uncertainty, thank you that you never change. May we live each day conscious of your love surrounding us and your power strengthening us.

We pray for our fellow believers, those here in Liberton, throughout our nation and all over the world. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder, encouraging one another in faith and upholding one another in prayer. May we carry your light to the people we meet and bring your peace and hope to those living in fear.

Lord Jesus, there will be no end to the increase of your government and peace. We pray that many would be drawn to you in these days, that they would seek and find the security that is only found in you. Let your Kingdom come, your will be done, here on earth as in heaven.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from HEBREWS 10 at the end of your day
Reflect on these words as you look back over your day and then Pray in response

Most merciful God,
We confess to you,
Before the whole company of heaven and one another,
That we have sinned in thought, word and deed
And in what we have failed to do.
Forgive us our sins,
Heal us by your Spirit
And raise us to new life in Christ.
In Jesus’ name. Amen
