Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : MATTHEW 22 verses 1-14
Meditation : take time to consider these words as your day starts.
Parable of the Wedding Feast.
The Kingdom of Heaven.

What words stay with you today?
What is your response to God’s Word today?

Then Pause to Pray in response to the LORD our God

Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and thanksgiving
Of confession and trust
For others known to you
For our nation
For our world

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those grieving at this time
God of grace and mercy and rich blessing, hear our prayers we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from MATTHEW 22 verses 1-14 – in another version?
Reflect prayerfully on what you read and then pray to our God in response

Eternal and Faithful One, hear my evening prayer
As I lay myself and this world before you at the end of today
As I lift my eyes upward
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth
as it is in heaven
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Devotions for Sunday 19th March, 2023

4th Sunday in Lent

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : PSALM 23
Meditation : take time and consider this psalm this Sunday morning in Lent.
The LORD is My Shepherd.
Blessings.

What do the words mean for you today?
What is God teaching/reminding you about Himself?
Which words will you hold onto?

And then pray in response – using the verses one by one as you pray

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

Dear Lord,
Some of us come to the season of Lent
with an attitude or practice of self denial
to remind us of your 40 days fasting in the desert.
Whether or not we each do this,
please help us all to use this time
to prayerfully examine our way of life and our commitment to You.
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these familiar verses again from PSALM 23
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response to this God

I say to the LORD, “You are my God.”
Hear my cry for help, LORD!
My Sovereign LORD, my strong defender,
you have protected me in battle.

O LORD, my Good Shepherd,
Hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for the blessings of this Sunday
As we believe and trust in you
As we name others seeking you
As we pilgrimage on into this new week
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
