Daily Devotions for Sunday 17th May, 2020

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : HEBREWS 13 verses 13-19

Meditation : take time to consider these verses on this Sunday.
What words stay with you?
Who will you pray for this morning?

And then pray in response,
Using verse 15 as part of your own prayer this morning
Pray for others – including our leaders in Church and nation at this time

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from HEBREWS 13
Reflect on the words written here and then Pray in response at the end of your day

O Lord Jesus, our Great High Priest,
Son of God, Son of Man,
We bring our evening sacrifice of praise to you.
As we return our thanks to you
As we acknowledge You our Saviour and Help even this day.
As we pray for all corners of our world
To know of You in these days.
In His saving name, Amen.

Thy Kingdom Come #offer 2020

As a Church family we have been revisiting the 11 themes of the Thy Kingdom Come Prayer venture each Saturday morning.

This venture runs for the 11 days leading up to Pentecost and this year will be 21-31 May.

We will be continuing this through each Saturday in May at 12 noon and daily in the period 21st-31st.

And so today, on this last Saturday before TKC 2020, we are encouraged to pause and pray – and offer ourselves.

As God’s people we are called by Him to be channels of His Kingdom grace and mercy and love to those around us.
As God’s people He calls us to ourselves for His Kingdom purposes.
As God’s people we offer all that we are and all that we have so that His Kingdom will is done – on earth as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name
Amen.

Daily Devotions for Saturday 16th May, 2020

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : HEBREWS 10 verses 19-23

Meditation : take time to consider these words of hope this morning.
Jesus – our Great High Priest!
What encourages and challenges you today?

And then Pray in response – looking again at verse 22 as you turn to pray

O Holy and Merciful God,
Hear my morning prayer
As I bow before you
As I thank you for Jesus
As I confess my sins
As I lay myself
And this day
Before you
In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer

Almighty God, sitting enthroned in the heavens, we praise you because you, our Father, are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. In these days of constant change & uncertainty, thank you that you never change. May we live each day conscious of your love surrounding us and your power strengthening us.

We pray for our fellow believers, those here in Liberton, throughout our nation and all over the world. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder, encouraging one another in faith and upholding one another in prayer. May we carry your light to the people we meet and bring your peace and hope to those living in fear.

Lord Jesus, there will be no end to the increase of your government and peace. We pray that many would be drawn to you in these days, that they would seek and find the security that is only found in you. Let your Kingdom come, your will be done, here on earth as in heaven.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from HEBREWS 10 at the end of your day
Reflect on these words as you look back over your day and then Pray in response

Most merciful God,
We confess to you,
Before the whole company of heaven and one another,
That we have sinned in thought, word and deed
And in what we have failed to do.
Forgive us our sins,
Heal us by your Spirit
And raise us to new life in Christ.
In Jesus’ name. Amen
.
