Daily Devotions for Tuesday 30th November, 2021

Upper Room day and Gathering for Prayer

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : JAMES 5 verses 13-20

Meditation : As we pause with God this morning…
We consider these words from James to other believers.
What is God saying to you today from them?

Pray in response to what you have read
Asking for….

Taking time to pause and listen for God’s answer to you

O Lord
Speak to us
Speak to me
By name
And help me hear
What the Spirit is saying in these days
To me
To my family
To my Church
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday

Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask, seek, knock….hear!
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read the passage again from JAMES 5
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray….to the LORD our God

God of James, our God,
We bring our evening worship to you
As we thank you for who you are
And your good gifts to us today.
As we lay ourselves and our prayer requests before you
As we acknowledge what you are saying to us at this time.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen.

Daily Devotions for DECEMBER 2021

May your Kingdom come;
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6 verse 10

During 2021 we have been looking daily at the theme of PRAYER – and pausing at our times of Midday Devotion to pray for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time.

From September to December we have been looking at P-R-A-Y
Pause – Rejoice – Ask – Yield
And so this month we shall be taking the time to YIELD (say YES) to God in His written Word.

As well as taking time to focus on Advent and Christmas of course!

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

Morning
Reading and Meditation on the content and Prayer of response
Midday
Prayer – mostly for others
Evening
Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

A Prayer for the Month of DECEMBER

O LORD our God
At the close of this year

We pause with you
And remember who you are

We rejoice
In all the blessings you have given

We ask
To lead and guide us through the days ahead

We yield
To your Kingdom will
On earth
As it is in heaven

In Jesus’ name
Amen and Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Pause to Pray for Others

On this first Sunday in Advent…as the nation and the world still wrestles with new cases and vaccine supplies…and other points of crisis and concern… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours

For the Church across the world in these days to be salt and light

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and world leaders at this time
