Our Journey – Thy Kingdom Come

As we journey through the global prayer adventure of Thy Kingdom Come, until Pentecost Sunday 5th June, are you travelling with us?

At 8am each morning – a short daily reflection from members of our Prayer Ministry Team – on our YouTube channel, website and social media pages – on 11 various themes!

At 9am each morning – we have been invited to pause and pray for 5 friends, family, neighbours, colleagues to meet with Jesus and know God for themselves.

At 12 midday – we pause and listen/watch to the daily reflection from TKC – if you haven’t seen it already that day.
As well as the main videos there are videos for youth – and there are the Cheeky Pandas for young children!!

At 7pm each evening – we are invited to pause and consider the Prayer Journal page for that day.

At 9pm each evening – we pause and pray with others.

This Tuesday evening we gather in the Kirk to pray together….’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’
You are very welcome to join us 7.30-8.30pm

Maybe one or more will work for you each day.
Maybe not.
Don’t worry if not or you have other commitments….or other times suit you better.
God in His Kingdom ways understands!

From Thy Kingdom Come, as part of the commissioning…..
‘This Thursday marks the first of eleven days of Thy Kingdom Come from Ascension Day to Pentecost Sunday. Each year we are invited to join with tens of millions of Christians around the world, and across all denominations in praying specifically for five people we know personally to come to know more of God’s love in Jesus Christ, and to pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us to boldly witness to them of the love, hope and salvation we enjoy.

As we wait in silence,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we listen to Your word,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we worship You in majesty,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we long for Your refreshing,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

As we long for Your renewing,
make us ready for Your coming Spirit.

Lord, bless Your world
All And fill us with Your Spirit
Merciful Father,
All accept these prayers for the sake of Your Son,
our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen

Daily Devotions for Tuesday 24th May, 2022

Upper Room day

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : ROMANS 7 verses 22 and 23

Meditation : take time and consider this psalm this morning.
What an unhappy man I am!
What words or images stay with you?
What is your prayer cry today?

Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to pause and listen for God’s answer to you

I call to the LORD for help;
I plead with him.
I bring him all my complaints;
I tell him all my troubles.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask, seek, knock….hear!
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read ROMANS 7 verses 22 and 23 again – in another version?
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray….to the LORD our God

I call to the LORD for help;
I plead with him.
I bring him all my complaints;
I tell him all my troubles.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen.

Tuesday Tuesday

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place for you to be.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular this week for the Kingdom of God to come on earth as it is in heaven. We are joining with 24-7 Prayer across the nation and the world in this venture.

* To find a quiet space for yourself to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these times

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7.30pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

You are invited to visit the Word for Today as you walk the grounds around the Kirk building – the focus these days is on the Lord’s Prayer and there are helpful posters – starting at the Offering House.

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of war in Ukraine you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS during 2022 – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…..and the upcoming Thy Kingdom Come global prayer venture… which will include daily reflections on their social media and website pages…..and from our Prayer Ministry Team a daily reflection over the 11 days at 8am.

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these closing days of May 2022.
