Daily Devotions for Wednesday 4th January, 2023

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Three in One

Reading : MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 5-7

Meditation : consider all that is said here as your day starts.
Jesus is Tempted – again. In the desert.
Jesus overcomes the Devil – again.
What is your response to God’s written Word today?

Then turn to pray to God in response
Looking at verse 7

O LORD our God,
Thank you for all these words
And all they teach me about who you are.
Receive my sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
And help me keep my eyes upward this day
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those on your own prayer list
O LORD, give help and hear our prayers we ask this day.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 5-7
Reflect on the words you have read and then pray in response – to this God, our God

LORD God, our God,
God who deserves our thanks
Hear the evening prayers of your people
For we are indeed in need of rescue from this world
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

As we journey through this week….. with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from LUKE chapter 2 verses 22-35– as we continue to consider the GOOD NEWS about Jesus through 2022 – on this particular Wednesday….

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer as the day closes

We REJOICE in the help and blessings He has given this particular Wednesday – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our church family and our nation and in our world at this time

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

rescue me from my enemies.
You are my God;
teach me to do your will.
Be good to me, and guide me on a safe path.

in your goodness save me from my troubles!
