Daily Devotions for Saturday 20th January, 2024

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : GENESIS chapter 39
Meditation : take the time to consider these words and events this Saturday morning.

Which words stay with you as your day starts?
What is God teaching you about His ways today?

And then take time to Pray in response to God

Amen we pray together this new day

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read the events and verses again from GENESIS chapter 39
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray in response to what you have read

These are our Saturday evening prayers, O LORD our God

Reading : GENESIS chapter 37 verses 12-36
Meditation : take time and consider all that happens here
Joseph is sold by his brothers.
Joseph is taken to Egypt.

What images or words stay with you?

And then Pray with honest words to this God of ours in response

Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them
and who depend on the LORD their God,
the Creator of heaven, earth, and sea,
and all that is in them.
He always keeps his promises;
He judges in favour of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry

And so we ask, Holy Spirit,
Have mercy on our family members
Even those far from You and from our homes
Amen – we pray together.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those on our Church Prayer List
Father God, hear our prayers and bless them all real good we ask

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from GENESIS chapter 37 verses 12-36
Reflect on the events written here and pray in response to Father God
