Meditation : take time to consider this chapter as your day starts.
What is God saying to you from it?
Look again at vs 20+21….what is your response to these events?

Pray in response to this living and active God

LORD God of yesteryear,
My God of today,
LORD of tomorrow,
Hear my prayer of response to what I have read and considered
And help me afresh to live my life for You
Whatever the circumstances around me
In Christ Jesus
By the help of the Holy Spirit

Reading :  1 Peter 5 verses 1-14

Meditation :  take time to consider this passage again as we prepare to move seasons as a church family and move from 1 Peter back to Exodus.
What words from Peter will you hold onto today?

Pray in praise to God for His grace to us, His people

For Your amazing grace

And help me to live truly for Jesus

And thank you for all you have given us from 1 Peter

‘The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.
I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” ’               Exodus 3 verse 8

          

As the months move on, and we come and go over these summer months, so we find ourselves in the season of preparation between Looking INWARD and Looking OUTWARD. During July and August therefore we shall take the time to consider the book of EXODUS – when God rescued His people from Egypt and prepared them for the Promised Land.

We are encouraged to listen for God’s voice as we continue together in this ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2017.

The Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through your day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.

The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide the fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions. It was from this tradition that the Daily Devotions started in early 2015.

Oh may Your Holy Spirit work in and through each of us
As You are already doing across the world.

Father God, hear our prayers and bless them all real good we ask 

Evening

Reflect on this God who was at work in Peter’s day and pray in response to Him – for your church and the church worldwide

LORD God, Father God, hear our evening prayers.
Thank you for this day, for this month
And for your saving grace – to even me.
