Thy Kingdom Come – at this time

As a Church we followed the venture of prayer – Thy Kingdom Come – earlier this year. This prayer continues.

Each Sunday at midday we have been pausing to remember the 11 daily themes and videos that were posted.

On this particular Sunday…we pause to pray with others…for our nation…for the members of the Royal Family….as we turn our eyes upward…

Our Father in heaven
Hallowed is Your name
Thy Kingdom Come
Thy will be done
On earth
As it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who have sinned against us
For Yours is all the power and the glory
For ever and ever

Amen and Amen

Daily Devotions for Thursday 2nd June, 2022

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Day 8 of Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture
This is a global venture as Christians around the world
Pray for up to 5 friends to meet with Jesus
Pray for evidence of God’s Kingdom on earth
As it is in heaven
Pray for God’s Kingdom will to be done
In our lives
In our community where we live
In His Church
In our nation
In our world

Reading : REVELATION 1 verses 9-18

Meditation : take time and carefully consider these particular words.
Words of ADORATION
What do they mean to you?
Which words stay with you as you turn to prayer?

Then pray in response to the LORD as your day starts
Using words from this passage as they become your own

O LORD our God
This is our morning prayer of adoration
In Jesus’ name. Amen and Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those recently come to faith in Jesus in SE Edinburgh
Lord, hear our prayers and bless each and all real good we ask.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in lives changed

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from REVELATION 1
Reflect on the words here – and what God is saying to you now.
Pray in response to this God who is the God we believe and trust in

O LORD, hear our evening prayers as this day closes
As we praise you for who You are
As we return our thanks to You.
As we humbly confess our sins
As we lay all we are and have before You
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Tuesday Invitation

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place for you to be.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular this week for the Kingdom of God to come on earth as it is in heaven. We are joining with 24-7 Prayer across the nation and the world in this venture.

* To find a quiet space for yourself to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these times

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7.30pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

We gather in the Kirk in the evening for our monthly church family time of prayer – 7.30-8.30 – and you are welcome to meet with us as we give thanks for blessings received…wait and listen with God…bring our prayers for others…with our focus this month on Thy Kingdom Come.

You are invited to visit the Word for Today as you walk the grounds around the Kirk building – the focus these days is on the Lord’s Prayer and there are helpful posters – starting at the Offering House.

You are also invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of war in Ukraine you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of ROMANS during 2022 – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…..and the upcoming Thy Kingdom Come global prayer venture… which will include daily reflections on their social media and website pages…..and from our Prayer Ministry Team a daily reflection over the 11 days at 8am.

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these closing days of May 2022.
