Daily Devotions for Sunday 16th August, 2020
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God
Reading : PSALM 101 verse 5
Meditation : take time to consider this part of the psalm on this Sunday morning.
Is there someone in your life who comes to mind?
Is there someone God is naming before you today?
And then pray in response,
Giving thanks for those who bless and help you in your life
Naming those you are concerned about
Admitting to God anyone you struggle with in life at this time
Father God
Thank you for….
O please help….
Give me wisdom and strength concerning….
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
Evening
Reading : read these words again from PSALM 101 verse 5
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response at the end of your day
O LORD, our Refuge and Protector,
Hear our many evening prayers.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Call to Saturday Evening Prayer
I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
in my own home.
I will refuse to look at
anything vile and vulgar.
I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
I will reject perverse ideas
and stay away from every evil.
I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbours.
I will not endure conceit and pride.
I will search for faithful people
to be my companions.
Words from this morning’s Daily Devotions as we journey into Sunday – PSALM 101
Thy Kingdom Come
As a Church we took part in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come earlier this year.
This ran during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost.
Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.
This week we focus on the theme of THY KINGDOM COME as we pause to pray with others.
We are invited to spend time with the LORD our God….asking…..receiving…..
Our Father God
Thy Kingdom Come
In our lives
In the lives of those we name before You
In our city
In our nation
In this world
As it is in heaven
We ask in Jesus’ name
Amen!
