Daily Devotions for 7th December, 2018

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus
Reading : ZECHARIAH 9 verse 9

Meditation : consider what is said here as your day starts!
What is God saying to you today?
Which words will you hold on to today?

And then Pray in response – as God leads you
Invite and allow the Holy Spirit to bring words and images to your mind.
Pray with confidence to our Saviour and High Priest, the Servant King

Amen – we pray together.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those who serve God overseas on the mission field
Father God, hear our prayers, show mercy and bless them real good we ask.

Evening
Reading : read the verse again
Reflect on the words you have just read and pray in response
Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers
And make us more like you we ask
Amen.

First Sunday of Advent

What is God saying to you today from his Word?

Then take time to Pray in response to what you have read and considered

In Jesus’ name
Amen.

Midday
Pray for a church near your home to know Sunday blessings
O LORD God, hear and answer our prayers we ask.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Evening
Reading : read the verse again as your day ends
Reflect on the truths beyond the words and then Pray to our God …

O Son of God
Change my heart.
Your Spirit composes the songs of the birds and the buzz of the bees.
I ask of you only one more miracle:
Beautify my soul.

Daily Devotions for December 2018

‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever..’
Hebrews 13 verse 8

As the year comes to an end, so we travel through selected verses – one a day – and focus solely on the Person of Jesus, the Son of God and Son of Man. We pause in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world.

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice as we continue together
in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during this final month of 2018.

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015

Morning
Reading and Meditation on the content and Prayer of response
Midday
Prayer – mostly for others
Evening
Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

A Prayer for the Month of December
Jesus
Saviour and Lord
I welcome you
I bow before you

Jesus
My Jesus
I celebrate you
I worship you

Jesus
Name above all names
We lay ourselves before you
And live to serve you
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
