Daily Devotions for December 2018

‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever..’
Hebrews 13 verse 8

As the year comes to an end, so we travel through selected verses – one a day – and focus solely on the Person of Jesus, the Son of God and Son of Man. We pause in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world.

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice as we continue together
in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during this final month of 2018.

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever

Reading : REVELATION chapter 5
Meditation : take time and consider this chapter this morning.
What is your response to what God is saying here?

Pray and Praise to the God of great things ahead in heaven!

Pray God’s blessing on those nearing heaven at this time
Father God, hear our prayers and give comfort we ask

Reading : read this chapter again
Reflect on this God in heaven above and pray in response to Him
Lord Jesus, Servant King, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we bring our prayers and praise!

Reading : 1 CORINTHIANS 15
Meditation : take time and consider all that is said here.
What is God saying to you today?

then pray in response to what you have read – to this God!

In worship and thanks for what you have read,
In confession and need,
For yourself and for others.)

O LORD, receive our praise and hear our prayers.
As we lay our lives before you
With hope and trust!
Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on the Big Alpha party this evening!
O LORD, have mercy and pour out rich blessings we ask!

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from 1 Corinthians
Reflect on these words at the end of your day
and Pray in response to this God of ours
O LORD, hear our evening prayers
As we praise you for the victories of today and the hope of tomorrow.

Daily Devotions for 28th November, 2018

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Three in One

Reading : ROMANS 8 verses 28-39
Meditation : take time to carefully consider these great words from Paul.
What challenges you? What encourages you?
What is God saying to you today?

then pray in response….as you lay your day before Him.

O LORD our God,
As I read
May I hold onto your Word even today.
Help me to truly trust you
As this day begins
And all that lies ahead of me.
Amen and amen!

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Thank you for a life surrendered to serve You.
Here I am.
Use even me I ask
Even today.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask…… seek…… knock……….hear!
Father, thank you.

Evening

Reflect on the words ….. and pray in response
LORD God, our great God,
As I thank you for my Church family,
Help me to rest in Your unfailing love this evening.
