Daily Devotions for Sunday December 6th, 2020

Second Sunday in Advent

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit, on this Sunday

Reading : MATTHEW 24 verses 15-31

Meditation : take time to consider this part of the Bible.
The Awful Horror.
What is God teaching/reminding you today from his Word?
What is your response to Him?

Pray in response to what you have read and considered
Pray for our Sunday Services to evidence God at work

In Jesus’ name
Today this is my prayer
For I believe and trust in Him
Amen.

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening

Reading : read MATTHEW 24.15-31 again as your day ends
Reflect on the truths beyond the words and then Pray to this God …our God
Including for others known to you in need at this time

O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear our evening prayers
As we praise You for who You are
As we return our thanks to you for the blessings of this day.
As we name others in need before You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

As part of God’s Church we participated in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come earlier this year. This ran during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost….many months ago now!

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of SORRY as we pause to pray with others.

We are encouraged to take time to bring our words of confession to the LORD our God

We confess words said that we should not have said

We confess words not said that should have been said

We confess actions done that we should not have done

We confess actions not done that should have been done

We confess to Father God where we have gone our own way – and not His Kingdom will for us.

Have mercy we call out
In Jesus’ name….Amen
