Daily Devotions for 2nd July, 2018

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God, the Eternal One
Reading : 1 KINGS chapter 3

Meditation : take the time to carefully consider this chapter as your day starts.
What words stay with you?
What is God saying to you today?
What is your response to Him?

Then take time to pause and Pray in response to this God – asking for His wisdom in your life

LORD God,
God of all wisdom and understanding
As you hear our morning prayers
Grant us but a portion for this day
For our lives
For the lives of those we name before you
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday

O LORD God, have mercy on those we name before you and hear our prayers this day.

Daily Devotions for July 2018

‘How I love your law! I think about it all day long.’
Psalm 119 verse 97

As the summer months approach and the season of Looking INWARD together moves toward Looking OUTWARD this Autumn, so we are travelling through the Bible in June, July and August – (yes.. from Genesis to Revelation!) – and pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world. Please do remember to keep BIG ALPHA on your prayer list as we move together towards this venture in the Autumn!
We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice as we continue together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2018.
Please also make use of the Pathway of Peace during July and August – this is situated in the Kirk courtyard from 8am-8pm and provides space for time-out with God.
The Upper Room will be closed during July and re-opens August 7th.

A Prayer for the Month of July

LORD our God
Continue
To speak
To us
To teach us
To lead us
Through Your Word
By the Spirit
That we might
Know You better
Follow You closer
Love you more
In Jesus’ name
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

#PrayFor ThyKingdomCome

In our land and across our world during May believers and followers of Jesus were invited to pause and pray for the Kingdom of God to be experienced and evidenced anew. This was a venture created by God through the Archbishop of Canterbury and others.

As part of our daily devotional rhythm we are re-visiting the 11 themes again on our website and social media pages – each Saturday morning at 8am.

Today we are invited to pause in God’s presence – and bring Him our prayers for others – for them to experience God’s Kingdom blessings!

Please take a few minutes to pray your prayers for others this morning.
Lift before Him those known to you at this time.
Lay before Him those in need in our church family.
Pray for refugees and others from overseas in our city, in our community, in our land.

O LORD our God
Hear our prayers
And have mercy we ask.
In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen!
