ThyKingdomCome #Advent #hope

As part of the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture earlier this year we have been pausing on a Saturday morning and asking, seeking and knocking on heaven’s door.

Today we are encouraged to find a place and space and pray to the God of hope for our world and ourselves at this season of Advent and Christmas.

Oh Father God at this time of the year we pray for hope to be found and treasured in our world and in the lives of those we name before you – especially in those situations where hope has been dashed or squashed. Shine Jesus shine, blaze Spirit blaze.  We ask these things in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Daily Devotions for Saturday 16th December, 2017

Morning

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : MATTHEW 13 verses 53-58

Meditation : take time to consider these few verses this morning.

What is God saying to you today?
Who do you know facing opposition in life at this time?

And then Pray in response to this Lord Jesus 

O Lord,
I read
I believe
I name before you…
As I thank you
For not always taking the easy road.

Amen we pray together.

Midday

Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Father God of grace and mercy, hear our prayers.

Evening

Reading : read this short passage again from Matthew 13

Reflect on the people and events mentioned here…. and then Pray to this Jesus

Lord Jesus, Saviour and Teacher,
Hear our evening prayers we ask,   Amen.

Daily Devotions for 15th December, 2017

Morning

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading :   MATTHEW 11 verses 25-30

Meditation : consider these verses this morning as your day starts.
What is God saying to you today?  What is your response to what you have read and considered? 

And then Pray in response – to this Jesus.

Invite and allow the Holy Spirit to bring others in need into your prayer

Amen – we pray together.

Midday

Pray God’s blessing on someone in need you talked with this week

Father God, hear our prayers, show mercy and bless them real good we ask. 

Evening

Reading : read these few verses again from Matthew 11

Reflect carefully on the words you have just read and pray in response

Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers
And may we be a people resting on you above all others.
Amen.

Daily Devotions for 14th December, 2017

Reading : MATTHEW 3 verses 13-17

Meditation :   take time and imagine all that happens here.
What is God saying to you today from these verses?
What is your response to Him?

then pray in response as your day starts,  giving thanks for one other person who shares in your Christian faith with you

As we work to see Your Kingdom come,
Your will being done above all else
Help us to trust you

O LORD, hear our prayers and bless them real good we ask.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

And I ask that others will find Jesus
Even today
And lives will be changed
Forever!

Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day

Father God…thank you. 

Evening

Reading : read the verses again from Matthew 2

Reflect on these events and words…. And then pray as your day closes for others

LORD God, our great God,
Bless those I name before You this evening
My neighbours, friends and colleagues
And ALL those in your Church.
For all of today
I thank You,
Even for those things that have caused me fear and concern even this day,
Help me to rest in Your unfailing love and on Your faithful Word.
