Morning

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading :   ISAIAH 7 verses 10-17

Meditation : take time to consider these verses this morning as your day starts.  What do they teach you?
What is your response to what you have read and considered? 

And then Pray in response – as God leads you
Invite and allow the Holy Spirit to bring words and images to your mind.

Amen – we pray together.

Midday

Pray God’s blessing on expectant mothers at this time

Father God, hear our prayers and bless all real good we ask at this time.

Evening

Reading : read these few verses again from Isaiah 7

Reflect carefully on the words you have just read and pray in response

Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers
Amen.

‘But the LORD will still give you proof. A virgin is pregnant;
she will have a son and will name him Immanuel.’
Isaiah 7 verse 14            

The Daily Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through your day and to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover. The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page.

However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions.

It was these traditions that gave birth to the Daily Devotions in early 2015.

Prayer – mostly for others
Evening
Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

As the year moves to a close and the season of Looking OUTWARD together ends,  so we are feeding where it all started!
A baby is promised!
And the Saviour Messiah is born!

Let me encourage you to listen for His voice as we complete our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2017.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our sins As we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Now and for ever

What do they say to you about our Jesus? about our Christian faith?
What is God saying to you today? 

then pray in response to Him– to this God of undeserving love

(Pray your own words to the LORD God
In worship and thanks for what you have read,
In confession and need to be more like Jesus,
For yourself and for others.) 

O LORD God, receive our praise and hear our prayers this morning
As we wait on you to speak with us – Person to person.

In Jesus’ name,   Amen.

Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

Father God, our God in heaven, hear our prayers we ask.

Evening

Reading : read these verses again from John 21

Reflect on these words and images at the end of your day

and Pray in response to this Lord of ours

Lord Jesus, our Lord, as we bring our love and devotion, hear our evening prayers
As we wait and expect to hear your voice leading us tomorrow.

Reflect on the words and then pray in response to this Jesus

Reading : JOHN 6 verses 60-71

Meditation : take time and consider what happens here and who says what.  What words stay with you?
What is God’s Word for you today?

Then take time to Pray to this Jesus – noting again verses 68 and 69

Lord Jesus,
I read of lives changed
I believe in your saving grace
Help my unbelief….Even now
And use even me to speak of You to others.

In Your name I ask, Amen.

Midday

Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask…Seek…Knock……Hear

Lord…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read these particular verses again

Reflect….on this Jesus and then Pray….to this Christ Jesus

Amen we pray together at the end of this day.

Amazing grace that reached a wretch like me!

Pray God’s blessings on the church who make up the Big Idea group.

O Lord…have mercy on all we ask and build your Church in our day!

Evening

Reading : read these verses again from John 1

Reflect on their meaning for you and then pray to God in response

Father God, hear my evening prayers
And continue to change my life.
