Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : ACTS 17 verses 1-15

Meditation : consider these verses and the birth of the Church in Thessalonica.  What is God teaching you today from the verses?

Take time to also read 1 Thessalonians chapter 1 – this church grew!!

Pray in response – as you look at your own church history

(Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of confession and trust
And for churches being planted in our world in these times)

O LORD, have mercy we call out and lead and guide!

Evening

Reading : read these verses again from chapter 17

Reflect on the events and then pray to God in response

Father God, hear my prayers this evening.
As I thank you for churches planted and growing in these days.

In Jesus’ name,   Amen.

Reading : ACTS 16 verses 16-40

Meditation :  take time and consider these words about Paul and Silas and Philippi and prison and the jailer and the officials!
What is God saying to you today from His Word?

and then pray to their God, our God, in response

O LORD God,
God of astonishing events,
Thank you for what I read.
Help me to live and speak for You afresh this day
Whatever the circumstances
With the help of your Holy Spirit
In thought and word and action.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray a blessing on another church family in our city

O LORD, God of mercy, hear our cry and pour out a blessing!

Evening

Reading : read these verses again

Reflect on all that is said and done and then Pray in response to this God

O LORD, Father God, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for what we read.
As we look back over our day
As we look ahead to tomorrow
As we name before you those trapped in life at this time.

In Jesus’ name,   Amen.

Meditation : take time to consider these few verses and the conversion of Lydia to Christianity.   What is God saying to you today?
Who are you praying for to make a similar step of faith – by God’s grace?

And then Pray in response to this Lord Jesus

O Lord,
I read
I believe
I name before you
As I thank you
For saving grace and faith
And lives changed – for ever
Even this day!

Amen we pray together.

God of grace and mercy hear our prayers and bless this group real good we ask.

Reading : read this short passage again from Acts 16

Reflect on the people mentioned in these words…. and then Pray to this God who saves!

LORD God, our God, hear our prayers
As we thank you for all you have given us
And as we give it all back to you
May you continue to reach and save people
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done across our world.

What is God saying to you today from Paul’s vision?
What is your response to what you read and considered? 

And then Pray in response – as God leads you
Invite and allow the Holy Spirit to bring words and images to your mind.

Reflect on what happens here – and what God is saying to you
and Pray in response to this God who brings us into His work

And bless all those we name before you.
