Daily Devotions for Saturday 23rd October, 2021
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit
Reading : LUKE 15 verses 11-32
Meditation : take the time to consider these words from Jesus this Saturday morning.
A father rejoices!
What are you encouraged and challenged by?
Which words stay with you as your day starts?
And then take time to Pray in response to Father God
Pray for your family members
Pray for families hurting at this time
Pray for a prodigal son known to you
Amen we pray together this new day.
Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
Evening
Reading : read the verses again from LUKE 15 verses 11-32
Reflect on the scenes here and all those involved….
and then Pray in response to what you have read
Examine me, O God, and know my mind;
test me, and discover my thoughts.
Find out if there is any evil in me
and guide me in the everlasting way
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Pause to Pray for Others
On this Friday in October…as the nation and the world still wrestles with new cases and vaccine supplies…and other points of crisis and concern… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.
You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time
For family and friends and neighbours
For those in our community and city affected by the virus at this time
For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation
For our country and world leaders at this time of decision making as COP26 approaches

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

including for someone ‘lost’
and for someone recently ‘found’
Pray your own honest words to the LORD our God.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Midday
We give thanks for the Bible in our own language
Father, Son and Holy Spirit – thank you, thank you!
Evening

O LORD, hear our evening prayers
As we return our thanks to you
For those you have brought back home
And for those you are drawing nearer to at this time
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
