TUESDAY upper room TUESDAY

Perhaps you make use of this opportunity?
Maybe you don’t.

Perhaps you used to make use of this space for time out?
Maybe you don’t.

Why not make this part of your weekly routine as you step into 2019?
If you are unable to attend due to work or family commitments – why not find a place with space and join with others in pausing to listen and pray with God.

The room above the Café becomes an Upper Room each Tuesday

Space
Sofas
Cross
Candles
Bibles
Prayer Tree
Music
Journals
Windows with a view

all to be used – or not

There are opportunities to pause and pray with others
7.30-8am
12 noon-12.30pm
7-7.15pm

And the Café is open from 9am!

You are encouraged to make this opportunity to pause and pray with God an active part of our church life and work
so that together we hear what God is saying to His Church at Liberton Kirk.

Journeying with God in the Daily Devotions

As we journey from 2018 into 2019 you are invited to join us on our daily pilgrimage with our God.

During 2019 we will be looking at various Bible characters and their relationship with God, and with each other – as well as a couple of Psalms each weekend – pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time of the year.

** There will be a call to Midday Prayer and Evening Prayer at various times during the week as we travel through the year. We started this during Advent and many have responded and been encouraged to pause and pray briefly at these times with others. **

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we start together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2019….will you join with us?

Daily Devotions for January 2019

‘Love the LORD your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your strength.’

Deuteronomy 6 verse 5

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

Morning
Reading and Meditation on the content and Prayer of response
Midday

Evening
Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

A Prayer for the Month of January

O God
Of Adam and Eve
Of Abraham and Isaac
We believe in You
We trust in You
We seek to please You
Help us
Forgive us
Bless us
Lead us
Use us
Surprise us
This month
This year
In Jesus’ name
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Daily Devotions for 31st December, 2018

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit
Reading : HEBREWS 13 verse 8

Meditation : take time to consider this verse as your day starts.
What does it say to you today about Jesus?
What is your response as your year ends?

Then Pray and Praise in response to this Person

(Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of confession and trust
Of understanding and need)

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
We Pray the Prayer for the Month as our midday prayer
(See in the magazine or online under the Prayer tab on LK website)
God of grace and mercy…and hope, hear our prayers
As one year ends
And another begins.

Evening
Reading : read these words again from Hebrews 13
Reflect on what you read and then praise and pray to this God in response
Yesterday, today, for ever,
Jesus is the same;
All may change, but Jesus never,
Glory to His name!
Glory to His name!
Glory to His name!
All may change, but Jesus never,
Glory to His name!

Amen and Amen!
