Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : LUKE 2 verses 8-20

Meditation : take time and consider this part of the Christmas story this Monday morning.
The Shepherds are told the Good News.
What words stay with you?
What is your song of prayer and praise to God today?
Who needs to hear the Good News story from you?

Then Pray with words and songs of praise in response to the LORD our God

Praise the LORD!
Sing a new song to the LORD;
praise him in the assembly of his faithful people!
Be glad, Israel, because of your Creator;
rejoice, people of Zion, because of your king!
Praise his name with dancing;
play drums and harps in praise of him.

As we name others to hear the Good News story
In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on our SEEPG partners in Edinburgh
God of grace and mercy and rich blessing, hear our prayers we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from LUKE 2 verses 8-20
Reflect on what you read and then give praise to our God in response

Praise the LORD!

The LORD takes pleasure in his people;
he honours the humble with victory.
Let God’s people rejoice in their triumph
and sing joyfully all night long.

And so to you, O God, we bring our evening words of prayer
As we name others to hear the Good News story

The birth of Jesus.
Joseph. Bethlehem.

And then pray in response – giving thanks for JESUS!

O God of greatness and grace
We bow before you
We believe in you
We trust in you
We offer you our songs of praise
This special day
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer on this special Day

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from LUKE 2 verses 1-7
Reflect on the words and images on this CHRISTmas evening
and then Pray in response to the God who sent Jesus, our Saviour God

Praise him, kings and all peoples,
princes and all other rulers;
young women and young men,
old people and children too.
Let them all praise the name of the LORD!
His name is greater than all others;
his glory is above earth and heaven

O LORD, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for the blessings of this Christmas Day
As we believe and trust in you

Reading : LUKE 1 verses 67-80

Meditation : take the time to consider these words of praise this particular morning.
Zechariah praises the Lord!
Which words stay with you as your day starts?
What is your song of praise today?

And then take time to Pray with Praise in response to this God
Make these words your own

Praise the LORD!
It is good to sing praise to our God;
it is pleasant and right to praise him.
The LORD is restoring Jerusalem;
he is bringing back the exiles.
He heals the broken-hearted
and bandages their wounds.
He has decided the number of the stars
and calls each one by name.
Great and mighty is our Lord;
his wisdom cannot be measured.
He raises the humble,
but crushes the wicked to the ground.

Amen we pray with praise together this new day!

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your own midday prayer

Dear Lord, help us to remember at this time of
Presents and Puddings,
Cards and Chocolates,
Paper hats and Limericks
With all the Glitz of Christmas celebration
That the King of Glory came Humbly into our world.

Reflect on the words…. and then Pray with Praise in response to what you have read
This is our God!

Sing hymns of praise to the LORD;
play music on the harp to our God.
He spreads clouds over the sky;
he provides rain for the earth
and makes grass grow on the hills.
He gives animals their food
and feeds the young ravens when they call.
His pleasure is not in strong horses,
nor his delight in brave soldiers;
but he takes pleasure in those who honour him,
in those who trust in his constant love

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading : LUKE 1 verses 57-66

Meditation : take time and consider all that is said here about God’s ways.
The birth of John the Baptist.
Elizabeth and Zechariah

What images or words stay with you?
What is God teaching/reminding you?

And then Pray to this God of ours in response

Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them
and who depend on the LORD their God,
the Creator of heaven, earth, and sea,
and all that is in them.
He always keeps his promises;
He judges in favour of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry

And so we bring our sacrifice of praise to you, our God Most High.
Amen – we pray together.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those who are rejoicing at a new birth at this time.
Father God, hear our prayers and bless them real good we ask

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from LUKE 1 verses 57-66
Reflect on the words written here and pray in response to the LORD our King.

Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, my soul
I will praise him as long as I live;
I will sing to my God all my life.

Then pause to praise and pray to this faithful and merciful God

And so we bring our sacrifice of praise to you, our God
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray God’s blessing on those seeking to know Jesus
God of grace…hear our prayers and pour a blessing we ask on each and all

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from LUKE 1 verses 46-56
Reflect on the words and images – at the end of your day
and Pray with honest and humble words in response to this God – our God

People will speak of your mighty deeds,
and I will proclaim your greatness.
They will tell about all your goodness
and sing about your kindness.
The LORD is loving and merciful,
slow to become angry and full of constant love.
He is good to everyone
and has compassion on all he made.

O LORD, hear our evening prayers
Forgive us our sins of this day
As we forgive those who have sinned against us – even today
