Evening Prayer with Others

As we step into a new week….. with God – together – in this season of Lent – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from MATTHEW chapter 17 verses 14-23– as we consider TELLING OTHERS THE GOOD NEWS about Jesus through 2023.

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer as the day closes

We REJOICE in the help and blessings He has given this particular Monday – to us and to others

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others in our church family and our nation and in our world at this time – especially prayerfully supporting the people of Turkey and Syria, Ukraine and other parts of our world in deep need at this time

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

Daily Devotions for Monday 6th March, 2023

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : MATTHEW 17 verses 14-23

Meditation : take the time to consider this passage today.
Jesus Heals.
Jesus Speaks.
What words or images stay with you?
What is God saying to you this morning about Himself?
What is your response to God’s Word today?

Pray in response – to our God , the God who is with us

Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of confession and trust
Of need – for yourself and others

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessings on those who work in our city hospitals
O LORD, have mercy on this part of our city life and work and give help we ask

Evening
Reading : read the set passage again prayerfully at the end of your day
Reflect….. and then pray to God in response

LORD God, the LORD Almighty, hear my prayer this evening.
As I thank you for the blessings of this day
As I call out to you for others in need of a healing touch
As I lay myself and this world before you
Confessing my failures of this day
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shine, Jesus, shine!

Father God, hear our prayers, have mercy and give help we ask.

Evening

Reflect on the words you have just read and pray in response

Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers as we respond to these words
And shine out to those in need this evening we ask.

Reading : MATTHEW 16 verses 13-28
Meditation : take time and carefully consider these words.
Peter’s declaration. The Messiah.
Jesus’ suffering and death.
What do they mean for you at this time?
Who is Jesus to you?

Then pray in response to the LORD as your day starts
Looking again at verses 15 and 16

In Jesus’ name. Amen and Amen.

Lord, hear our prayers and give help we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from MATTHEW 16 verses 13-28
Reflect on the words spoken here – and what God is saying to you now.
Pray in response to this Jesus, who came from heaven to earth

O Lord Jesus, Saviour and Messiah
Hear our evening prayers as this day closes
As we praise you for who You are
As we return our thanks to You for help received today
As we humbly confess our sins
As we lay all we are and have before You

Reading : MATTHEW 16 verses 1-12

Meditation : consider all that is said here as your day starts.
The Demand for a Miracle.
Yeast. Pharisees. Sadducees.
What is your response to God’s written Word today?
What are you asking God for at this time?

Then turn to pray to God in response

O LORD our God,
Thank you for all these words
And all they teach me about who you are.
Receive my sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
And teach me more of your ways – even this day
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those on your personal prayer list
O LORD, give help and hear our prayers we ask this day.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from MATTHEW 16 verses 1-12
Reflect on the words you have read and then pray in response – to this God, our God

LORD God, our God,
God who deserves our thanks
Hear the evening prayers of your people
For we are indeed in need of rescue from this world
