Daily Devotions for Tuesday 22nd June, 2021

Upper Room day

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : JOEL 2 verses 28-32

Meditation : take time and consider this passage this morning.
The LORD’s promise to pour out His Spirit.
What does this mean in your life?

Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to pause and listen for God’s answer to you

Spirit of the Living God
Fall afresh on me
Fall afresh on my Church
Fall afresh in our world

Flow river flow
Blaze Spirit blaze

Melt us
Mould us
Fill us
Use us

Spirit of the Living God
Fall afresh on me

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask, seek, knock….hear!
Father God…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read the passage again from JOEL 2
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray….to the LORD our God

God of Joel, our God,
Fall afresh on us
Fall afresh on me
Fall afresh in our city
Fall afresh in our land
In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen.

Time-Out Tuesday

After John’s message on Sunday morning about Listening to God and going outside the comfort zone, like Peter and Cornelius, you are invited to the Upper Room….or to take a meaningful walk….or sit at the Prayer Bench….

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.

You may find this place helpful as you pause to be still with God and pray for others in need known to you.
You may want to share the need with others and ask for their prayer support at this time.
This can be done at 8am….12 midday….and 7pm.

* A space to be still in a busy world – in the room above the Kirkgate Cafe 7.30am-7.30pm
** Private prayer for yourself and for others – come and go as you wish
* Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are invited to take a meaningful walk…whatever day it is!
We would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed at various locations from 1 John….starting at the Offering House.
You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.
You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab.

As Chris Brandie said on Sunday morning, our God has been very talkative with us….it is good we spend time considering what He is saying….and to talk with Him.

Thy Kingdom Come at Midday

As a Church we were part of the global prayer venture – Thy Kingdom Come.

This prayer continues around the world as we pray for 5 people we know to meet with Jesus!

Each Sunday at Midday we will re-visit one of the 11 daily themes.
This week it is SORRY – as we pause to offer our prayers of confession to Father God – and receive His forgiveness and cleansing and power to live more like Jesus
