Advent Tuesday

As we journey onwards through these closing days of Advent 2023….

At Liberton Kirk we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place for you to be.

The Upper Room will be open this Tuesday and you are encouraged to take time-out with God…..to find a quiet place with space at this busy time of year…..7.30am-7.00pm……with opportunities to pray with John and others at 8am… Midday and 7pm.

* A space for you to be still in your busy needy world
** To pause and pray with God at this time – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope.
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these times

You are encouraged to visit the Offering House – beside the gates – 8am-5pm each day – where you can find more information and helpful leaflets and booklets about our faith and our Kirk……and a Nativity scene!! There is also a Prayer Request Box situated here for you to leave your own personal requests – our Prayer Team will prayerfully support those you name. Have you walked the Word for Today yet?

You are also encouraged to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting!) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

The Daily Devotions have been taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day as we consider the truths behind the words of this part of the Bible. During December our focus continues on the words and events from the book of ISAIAH as we continue on the theme of Telling Others the Good News . This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.

And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…….and the Thy Kingdom Come global prayer venture daily reflections on our YouTube channel….from members of our Church Family providing a reflection over the 11 days period. This year the venture ran 18-28 May. Will you still be praying for 5??

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we step into CHRISTMAS Day 2023.

Christmas Week Tuesday Time-Out

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.

As we journey through this particular week, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – for the first time? This is the final Upper Room of 2021.

* To find space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – for yourself and for others at this significant time of the year
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and those who gather will be glad to share these with you.

You are also invited to take a meaningful walk to the Kirk building…….starting at the Offering House….which is open for you to visit….and has an interesting exhibition inside about the Christmas Story!

You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of new coronavirus cases you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of yielding with God’s written Word in December – and you may want to pause to pray at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.
And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

May we each and all experience the Prince of Peace with us this Advent and Christmas time…as we take time-out with the Living God we believe and trust in.

Time-Out in Advent

The Kirk is getting ready for Christmas times!
The Kirkyard Nativity scenes are inviting us to walk around!

As a Church we set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In the early weeks and months of lockdown it was not possible to open and run this space…but it is now still available for one and all…whether you belong to Liberton Kirk or not.

You are invited to come….perhaps for the first time…..

* A place with space in a busy world
** For time-out in this Advent season
* Private prayer or with others
** With God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

Above the Kirkgate Cafe…..7.30am-7.30pm

Opportunites to pray with others will be possible at 8am…12 noon and 7pm

There are guidelines to follow…..including wearing a face covering.

But…..our Tuesdays – and every day – can still be an opportunity for time out…..with God…..where we are…at home or at work

You are invited to pause regularly at some time during the day and be still with God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

You are encouraged to speak with Him….to listen to Him.…to receive from Him…especially at this time as we seek to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church in our times.

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 5pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during this particular week you are invited to join with others and pray for all those affected afresh by the new coronavirus restrictions.

We are all invited to pray with others in our Church family as we journey through these latter weeks of 2020 together…..and to listen for what God is saying to us in these particular days.
