Upper Room day – time out with God
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God
Reading : NUMBERS 6 verses 22-27
Meditation : consider these words… at the start of your day.
Words of blessing
And then Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to thank God for His blessings in your life
And for God to bless someone known to you in need at this time
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
I have read these words
And now I pray for you to work them out
as a living reality in my life
and the life of the person I name – even today
as I thank you that you are with me
on my journey through life.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
…..and respond to His voice….
Father God…thank you.
Evening
Reading : read the verses again from NUMBERS 6
Reflect prayerfully on these words…. And then pray as your day closes
For yourself – for another – for tomorrow
LORD God, our gracious God,
Hear our evening prayers
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As your Monday closes you are invited to pause and pray with others in our Church Family as we step into this week
You may want to revisit the Daily Devotions for today from LEVITICUS 7 verses 11 and 12
You are encouraged to follow the pattern of P-R-A-Y which we have found to be a blessing from Lectio365/24-7 Prayer
P ause in God’s presence – acknowledge He is with you where you are
R ejoice in the blessings of this day He has given
A sk for His help – for yourself and for a situation/person known to you at this time
Y ield to His Kingdom will for tomorrow – say yes!
On this first Monday in October…as the nation and the world still wrestles with new cases and vaccine supplies…and other points of crisis and concern… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.
You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time
For family and friends and neighbours
For the supply of vaccines across the world
For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation
For our country and world leaders at this time of decision making
As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.
This Tuesday the Upper Room will be open 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – for the first time?
* To find space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – for yourself and for others
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments
There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and others will be glad to share these with you.
You are also invited to take a meaningful walk around the Kirk building…….starting at the Offering House….which is open for you to visit….and has an interesting exhibition inside!
We would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed at various locations from Psalm 25.
You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.
You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate.
The Daily Devotions have been taking us to a daily time of pausing with God’s written Word in September – and you may want to pause to pray at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.
And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God, the Eternal One
Reading : LEVITICUS 7 verses 11 and 12
Meditation : take time to consider these words as we pause with God.
What is God saying to you today from His written Word?
Then take time to Pray in response to our God
Bring to Him your morning sacrifice of thanksgiving
LORD God,
Thank you that we can trust You
Thank you that you are faithful
Thank you that you are with us
Even today
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Midday
We give thanks for those who look after the gardens across the city
O LORD, hear our prayers at this time of day and bless them we ask.
Evening
Reading : read the two verses again from LEVITICUS 7
Reflect on their meaning for you and pray in response…to this God
O Living and True God, our heavenly Father, hear our evening prayers
As we pause to give thanks You for who You are
And for the blessings of this day
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us even today.
O pour out a blessing on those we name before You
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
