‘Come, let us praise the LORD!
Let us come before him with thanksgiving….
For the LORD is a mighty God, a mighty king over all the gods.’
Psalm 95 verses 1-3
As we move through 2018 we lift our eyes Upward to the LORD our God, the Mighty King, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We are encouraged to spend time with Him each and every day, to ‘read the Bible, pray every day’ seeking to become more like Jesus as we open up to the Holy Spirit at work in us.
During May we will visit various parts of the Bible and pray together as we consider the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture across the world, the work of Christian Aid, Pentecost, the Church of Scotland annual Assembly and the work of TEAR Fund….as well as remembering Big Alpha coming in the Autumn!
The Daily Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through your day and to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover. The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions. It was these traditions that gave birth to the Daily Devotions in early 2015.

A Prayer for the Month
A Prayer for the Month of May
Sovereign God
King of kings
Judge of all
We bow down.
Thy Kingdom come.
LORD God
King of kings
Judge of all
We turn to You.
Thy will be done.
Merciful God
King of kings
Judge of all
We pray to You.
Give us our daily bread.
Sovereign God
King of kings
Judge of all
We bow down.
We turn to You.
We pray to You.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
