DAILY DEVOTIONS for OCTOBER 2019

‘I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.’’ Ephesians 3 verse 16

During 2019 we are looking at various Bible characters and their relationship with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit – as well as a couple of Psalms each weekend – pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time of the year.
In October we journey with PETER and PAUL – what a duo of life-changers!!
We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2019.

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven

Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.

Daily Devotions for 30th September, 2019

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : JOHN chapter 15 vs 1-17

Meditation : take time to consider these verses as your day starts.
The Vine and the branches.
What are you encouraged and challenged by this morning?

Then Pray in response to the LORD our God
The true vine.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on the leaders of uniformed organisations at LK
God of grace and mercy and rich blessing, hear our prayers we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from John 15
Reflect prayerfully on what you read and then pray to this God in response
Living and Fruitful One, hear my evening prayers
As I lay myself before you at the end of this day
As I name others before you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Devotions for Sunday 29th September, 2019

Morning

Meditation : take time to consider these words on this Sunday.

Thy Kingdom Come #offer

As part of our rhythm of daily and weekly prayer and devotion as a Church, we are revisiting the 11 themes of the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture earlier this year each Saturday morning.

We are invited today to pause and pray – offering ourselves for God’s Kingdom purposes.

Our time and talents
Our monies and possessions
– even today

We are also encouraged to pray for up to 5 people – family, friend, neighbour, colleague – to meet with Jesus.
