Daily Devotions for Tuesday 12th May, 2020

Upper Room day – time-out with God

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : EPHESIANS 6 verses 10-20

Meditation : take time and consider these verses this morning.
Words about armour.
Words that mention prayer.
Which words stay with you?
What is God saying to you today from His Word?

Take time to Pray in response – as you put the armour on –
including for others known to you at this time in the heat of a battle

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask and seek and knock……and hear
Father God…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read these verses again from EPHESIANS 6
Reflect…. and then Pray as your day closes

God of the Ephesians,
My God, our God,
Hear our evening prayers
As we confess our sins this day
As we name others in need known to us
As we journey from today to tomorrow
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Time-Out Tuesday – where you are

As a Church we have set aside a Tuesday each week and provided a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out.
However in these times sadly it is not possible to open and run this space.

But…..our Tuesdays can still be an opportunity for time out…..with God

You are invited to pause at some time in your Tuesday tomorrow and be still with God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

You are encouraged to speak with Him….to listen to Him.…to receive from Him…

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayer and Evening Prayer that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm.
We are also encouraged to pray the Lord’s Prayer with others in our city and across our land at 5pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus.

You are invited to pray with others in our Church family as we journey through this week together…..and to listen for what God is saying to us in these particular days….

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : EPHESIANS 3 verses 20 and 21

Meditation : take the time to consider these words…part of Paul’s prayer
What do they mean for you?
What is God saying to you this morning?
What is your response to God’s Word today?

Pray in response – to our God , the God who can do more than we ask or imagine!
You may want to read from verse 14 as you turn to prayer

(Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of confession and trust
Of need for yourself and others)

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Midday
Pray God’s blessings on the Gilmerton and Moredun churches
O LORD, have mercy on all we call out and pour rich blessings!

Evening
Reading : read the verses again prayerfully at the end of your day
Reflect….. and then pray to this God in response

Father God, hear my prayer this evening.
As I look to you beyond my circumstances
As I humbly name others before you.
As I lay myself and this world before you
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
