Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

As part of our rhythm of daily and weekly prayer and devotion as a Church, we are revisiting the 11 themes of the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture earlier this year each Saturday morning.

We are invited today to pause and pray – with confession.

Pause
Pray
Confess
Receive forgiveness in Christ Jesus

We are also encouraged to pray for up to 5 people – family, friend, neighbour, colleague – to meet with Jesus.

Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

As part of our rhythm of daily and weekly prayer and devotion as a Church, we are revisiting the themes of the recent Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture on a Saturday morning at 9.05am.

We are called today to pause and pray in confession…saying sorry meaningfully to God
For the sins of this past week
For the ways we have hurt others
For the things we have not done
For the love we have not shown in Jesus’ name

We are also encouraged today to pause and pray for the Kingdom of God to be evidenced anew in our day. We are invited to pray for up to 5 people – family, friend, neighbour, colleague – to meet with Jesus.

Daily Devotions for Sunday 2nd June, 2019

Thy Kingdom Come

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God
Reading : LUKE 6 verses 37-42

Meditation : take time to consider the theme of SORRY this morning.
Read the verses again as you use them in your morning prayer of confession
to our merciful and forgiving God.

Take time to Pray as your day starts
To Father God
With confession
For others

O God of true forgiveness
Hear us
Help us
Cleanse us
Use us
In Jesus’ name
Amen – we pray together.

Midday
Pray God’s Kingdom blessing on the Church family at Bristo Craigmillar
O LORD, God of mercy, hear our cry and bless them real good we ask.

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from Luke 6
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response to this God of ours
O LORD, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we cry out to you in prayer and confession
As we thank you for the blessings of this day
As we pilgrimage on towards tomorrow
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

In our land and across our world during the 10 days before Pentecost in 2017 and 2018 believers and followers of Jesus were invited to pause and pray for the Kingdom of God to be experienced and evidenced anew. This was a venture created by God through the Archbishop of Canterbury and others and will be repeated in 2019.

As part of our daily devotional rhythm on a Saturday morning there are 11 posts on our website and social media pages – at 8am – on the 11 themes brought to us by the Thy Kingdom Come prayer venture leaders.

Today we are invited to pause in God’s presence – and bring Him our prayers of confession

Please take a few minutes to pray your prayers with honesty this morning.

Confess the words, actions, thoughts that are brought to your mind.

Pause and pray for the sins of our city.

O LORD our God
Have mercy we cry out.
Forgive us when we hide behind our walls at Liberton.
In Jesus’ name, Amen

ThyKingdomCome #Sorry

Thy Kingdom Come was a prayer venture earlier this year in our land and across our world.

We have been pausing each Saturday morning at 8am to revisit the 11 themes raised by the leaders.

Today we are encouraged to bring to God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – our prayers of confession
For actions and words and thoughts done and said – or not
And to receive His forgiveness and cleansing – from the inside out

O LORD
Our God
God of grace and mercy
We pause in Your Presence this morning
and lay ourselves before You.
Forgive we call out
Cleanse we ask
Make us more like Jesus we pray!

In Jesus’ saving name
Amen!
