Time-Out Tuesday and Gathering for Prayer

Following on from John’s message to us on Sunday morning…and the opportunities we have to spend time with God in prayer….and on this the first of 10 days in the lead up to World Day of Prayer on 5th March….

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In these weeks and months of lockdown 2021 it is not possible once again to open and run this space….for the moment .

You are invited however to make time to pause and take time out…at this time of the year…perhaps for the first time….. and it doesn’t have to be a Tuesday!

However, this Tuesday instead of visiting the Upper Room you are encouraged to…..tarry a while with God, maybe a bit longer than usual……to wait…ask…seek…receive….

* Find a space to be still in a busy world
** For regular time-out during this month
* Private prayer for yourself and for others
** Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are encouraged to speak with Him….to listen to Him.…to receive from Him…especially at this time as we seek to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church in our times.

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 5pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during these particular weeks you are invited to join with others and pray for all those affected afresh by the new coronavirus restrictions.

We are all invited to pray with others in our Church family as we journey through these early days of 2021 together…..and to listen for what God is saying to us in these changing and uncertain days. You are encouraged to take some exercise by the Government..and we would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider the Word for Today words and images from PSALM 121 at this time.

And in the evening…we come together via Zoom to give thanks together in prayer…to ask, to seek, to receive from Father God….to share what God has been doing and saying….to pray for others and each other….7.30pm.

Daily Devotions for Tuesday 23rd February, 2021

Upper Room day – and evening Gathering for Prayer

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : 2 CHRONICLES 20 verses 1-30

Meditation : consider this passage – the king in prayer.
What is God saying to you today from this passage?
What is your response to Him today?

Take time to Pray in response to the LORD our God
With honest humility

In Jesus’ Name
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
‘Thy Kingdom come’ Father God
LORD our God…thank you.

Evening

Reading : read the passage again from 2 CHRONICLES 20
Reflect on these words…. And then pray to our God in response

Father God, our gracious God, hear our evening prayers,
As we return our thanks to you.
And as we lift up our nation and our world in these days
O have mercy!
O give saving grace!
In Jesus’ name, Amen
.

Thy Kingdom Come #sorry

As part of God’s Church we have participated in the global prayer venture of Thy Kingdom Come each year. This runs during the 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost…..and this year it will happen May 13th-23rd.

Each Saturday at 12 noon we are continuing to ask and seek and knock on Heaven’s door…..’Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done’…..and to pray for up to 5 people we know to meet with Jesus and to experience God’s Kingdom reign in their lives.

This week we focus on the theme of SORRY as we pause to pray with others in our nation and across the world.

We are encouraged to pause and take time with the LORD our God on this particular Saturday in February 2021.
To confess our sins

Words said that should not have been spoken
Words that should have been said

Actions done that should not have been
Actions not done

Thoughts that should not have been thought
Thoughts that should have been thought

And to receive God’s forgiveness and cleansing and renewing
