Daily Devotions for January 2018

‘Come, let us praise the LORD!
Let us come before him with thanksgiving….
For the LORD is a mighty God, a mighty king over all the gods.’

Psalm 95 verses 1-3

As we welcome 2018 we lift our eyes Upward to the LORD our God, the Mighty King, King of kings and Lord of lords!   Our focus for the year as a church family is ‘Treasure in Jars of Clay’…..and we have Big Alpha at Liberton Kirk in the autumn months very much now on the horizon!

We are encouraged to spend time with the LORD our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit each and every day, to ‘read the Bible, pray every day’ seeking to become more like Jesus as we open up to the Holy Spirit at work in us as individuals, as part of a group and as a church family.

The Daily Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through your day and to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover. The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions. It was these traditions that gave birth to the Daily Devotions in early 2015.

A Prayer for the Month

A Prayer for the Month of January

O Worship the King
Great and glorious above

Praise my soul this King of heaven
Great and glorious above!

Jesus name above all names
Great and glorious above!

I worship You
I love You
I serve You

Here and now
On earth below.

And one day
I shall see You
Face to face
And gladly bow the knee
In heaven above.

Hallelujah!

Praise the LORD!

Amen!

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our sins As we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Now and for ever.

Amen
