Daily Devotions for Tuesday 27th April, 2021

Upper Room day and Evening Gathering for Prayer

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : 2 THESSALONIANS 3 verses 1-5

Meditation : take time and consider this passage this morning.
What words stay with you?
What are you encouraged and challenged by today?

Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to pause and listen for God’s answer to you

O Lord
Speak to us
Speak to me
By name
And help me hear
What the Spirit is saying in these days
Even today
To me
To my family
To my Church
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask, seek, knock….hear!
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read the set verses again 2 THESSALONIANS 3
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray….to the LORD our God

God of Paul and the church at Thessaalonica, our God,
We bring our evening worship to you
As we lay ourselves and our families before you
As we acknowledge what you are saying to us at this time
In Jesus’ name.
Amen and Amen.

A Call to Evening Prayer

You are invited at this time in your day to pause and pray as your week starts

You may want to be still in God’s refreshing presence on this Monday evening

You may need to name others before Father God

You may find it helpful to read the words from today’s Daily Devotions – 1 Thessalonians 5 verses 25-28

Pause to Pray with Others

On this particular Monday…as the nation journeys forward slowly out of this season of Lockdown.. you are invited to pause and pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus

For family and friends and neighbours

For the people and government of India at this time

For NHS and Care Home staff across our nation

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making

Time Out Tuesday

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In these weeks and months of lockdown 2021 it has not been possible once again to open and run this space….for the moment anyhow…..all going well Tuesday 4th May will see that change!

However, this Tuesday instead of visiting the Upper Room you are encouraged to pause where you are…..and tarry a while with God, maybe a bit longer than usual……to wait…ask…seek…receive….in this season when lockdown is a-changing bit by bit.

* Find a space to be still in a busy world
** For a regular time-out during this month
* Private prayer for yourself and for others
** Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 6pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during these particular weeks you are invited to join with others and pray for all those still affected afresh by the coronavirus restrictions and the consequences of lockdown.

You are encouraged to take some exercise by the Government..and we would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time from the words displayed from JOHN 3.
