For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100 verse 5
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100 verse 5
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit, on this Sunday
Reading : PSALM 101 verse 1
Meditation : take time to consider this one verse this morning.
A song to the LORD.
What are the words in your song this morning to God?
What is the tone of your song?
Pray in response to what you have read and considered
In Jesus’ name
Today this is my prayer, this is my song.
Amen.
Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
Evening
Reading : read PSALM 101 verse 1 again as your day ends
Reflect on the truths beyond the words and then Pray to this God …our God
Including for others known to you struggling to sing out at this time
O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear our evening prayers
As we praise You for who You are
As we return our thanks to you for the blessings of this day.
As we name others in need before You.
LORD, have mercy and hear our prayer.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
in my own home.
I will refuse to look at
anything vile and vulgar.
I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
I will reject perverse ideas
and stay away from every evil.
I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbours.
I will not endure conceit and pride.
I will search for faithful people
to be my companions.
Only those who are above reproach
will be allowed to serve me.
I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house,
and liars will not stay in my presence.
My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked
and free the city of the Lord from their grip
We say Amen – as we journey into Sunday together.
Words from this morning’s Daily Devotions – Psalm 101
Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus.
Reading : PSALM 101
Meditation : take time to consider these words this Saturday morning.
A king’s promise.
What is God saying to you today from His Word about Himself?
Pray in response to the God of Psalm 101
Looking again at verses 3-5 as you turn to prayer
O LORD
Our God
Mighty and Holy One,
Receive our praise
Hear our prayers
And keep us on the right path we ask
As you walk with us this day
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer
As we consider being “fearfully and wonderfully made” in Your image God, we think of what makes us special. Our five physical senses which enable us to experience joy, pleasure, and wonderment, at your creation Also, we, like you, have knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
Most of all our heavenly father you have imbued us with love, that deep sense of care and empathy which raises us above your creation.
We receive your love to dispense your love, may we continue to do so in Jesus name. Amen
Evening
Reading : read this PSALM again as your day closes
Reflect prayerfully on the words and images ….. and then Pray in response
Especially for others in need of receiving forgiveness at this time
Spirit of the Living God, hear our evening prayers at the end of this day
And be with those we name before you.
In Jesus’ saving name, Amen.
Together we pause and pray
Together we say Amen
Praise the LORD, O my soul; All my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Psalm 103 verse 1
During 2020 we have been looking at standing on the promises of God – as well as dipping into a Psalm most weekends – pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time.
In August we continue to consider words from the PSALMS – including the words of Psalm 101 each weekend.
We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during this particular year of 2020.
These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day
A Prayer for the Month
A Prayer for August….from Denis Turner
I’d like you to look at your hands. Have you ever thought about them? Are they big and strong or are they fine and delicate? And do you ever think about our children’s hands? When newly born their hands are not much bigger than a 50 pence piece, the amazing thing is they already have 27 bones.
So, I’m thinking we are indeed “fearfully and wonderfully made” Ps 139 v 14.
But this is only the start, what about our senses, we have five right, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching. Yes, those are the physical senses but what about the two we’ve forgotten? Common sense, which the bible often refers to as understanding and combines it with wisdom. Also, there is the greatest sense of all Love.
Consider these verses before we pray.
Wisdom & understanding Psalm 49 v 1,2,3 Proverbs 3 v 13&14 19&20
Love Ephesians 5 v 25 1Corinthians 13 v 13 John 3 v 16
