Daily Devotions for Sunday 24th September, 2023

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : JOHN chapter 6 verses 35-40
Meditation : take time and consider this part of the chapter again this Sunday morning.
“I am the Bread of Life”

What do these words mean for you today?
Where are you feeding in your life?

And then pray in response – using the words of verse 40 as you turn to prayer

O God of grace-giving-Life
We bow before you
We believe in you
We trust in you
We offer you our songs of praise
This new day
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever

Reading : read these particular verses again from JOHN 6 verses 35-40
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response to this God
Looking again at verse 37

O LORD, hear our evening prayers we ask
As we thank you for the blessings of this Sunday
As we believe and trust in you
As we pilgrimage on towards tomorrow
With hope and confidence in You above all others
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Devotions for Friday 22nd September, 2023

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus

Reading : JOHN chapter 6 verses 25-59

Meditation : take time and consider all that is said here
The Bread of Life!

What images or words stay with you?
What is God teaching/reminding you?
Where are you feeding at this time?

And then Pray with words of hunger to this God of ours in response

Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them
and who depend on the LORD their God,
the Creator of heaven, earth, and sea,
and all that is in them.
He always keeps his promises;
He judges in favour of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry

And so we ask, Holy Spirit,
Create in us a deeper longer
A greater hunger
For Jesus
The Bread of Life
Amen – we pray together.

Pray God’s blessing on our Kirk Session Executive
Father God, hear our prayers and bless them real good we ask

Reading : read this passage again from JOHN 6 verses 25-59
Reflect on the words written here and pray in response to the Bread of Life

In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen!
