Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : PHILIPPIANS 2 verses 1-11

Meditation : take time and carefully consider these words as your day starts.
What do they mean for you?
Which words stay with you as you turn to prayer?

Then pray in response to this Jesus as your day starts
Yielding to His example as Servant King

In Jesus’ name. Amen and Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on Leprosy Mission work based in Sweden
Lord, hear our prayers and bless this work real good we ask.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done

Evening
Reading : read these particular verses again from PHILIPPIANS 2
Reflect on the words spoken here – and what God is saying to you now.
Pray in response to this Jesus, our Servant King

O Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers as this day closes
As we praise you for who You are
As we return our thanks to You.
As we humbly confess our sins
As we lay all we are and have before You
Amen.

Pause to Pray for Others

On this first Wednesday in Advent…as the nation and the world wrestles with new cases and vaccine supplies…and other points of crisis and concern… you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world – and for parts of the world in turmoil at this time

For family and friends and neighbours

For the supply of vaccines to all in our world

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and world leaders at this time

Daily Devotions for DECEMBER 2021

May your Kingdom come;
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6 verse 10

During 2021 we have been looking daily at the theme of PRAYER – and pausing at our times of Midday Devotion to pray for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time.

From September to December we have been looking at P-R-A-Y
Pause – Rejoice – Ask – Yield
And so this month we shall be taking the time to YIELD (say YES) to God in His written Word.

As well as taking time to focus on Advent and Christmas of course!

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

Morning
Reading and Meditation on the content and Prayer of response
Midday
Prayer – mostly for others
Evening
Verse(s) from the morning reading
Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

A Prayer for the Month of DECEMBER

O LORD our God
At the close of this year

We pause with you
And remember who you are

We rejoice
In all the blessings you have given

We ask
To lead and guide us through the days ahead

We yield
To your Kingdom will
On earth
As it is in heaven

In Jesus’ name
Amen and Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
