Morning
Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit
Reading :  Genesis 48
Meditation :  consider how theses verses speak to you – and then
Pray in response, seeking God’s true blessing in your life afresh
(Pray your own words at the start of this day
Of praise and worship
Of trust and willingness
Of expectation to receive)
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of the day.
Thank you, O Lord.

Evening
Reading :  Genesis 48 vs 15 and 16
Reflect on these words of blessing again and then pray God’s blessing on another person
Father God, hear my prayers.

Pray to hear and receive from God
Reading :  Genesis 46 vs1-7, and 26 – ch.47 v12
Meditation :   consider how God brought this family together again, after many years apart
and then pray to this God who made it happen
O LORD God of this story, of this family in history
Our God of grace and compassion,
Who hears our cry for mercy.
Thank you for what we read.
We call out to You for our nation, our city, our families, our own lives –
Flood each one with Your goodness.
Today, tomorrow and forever!
We ask, according to Your amazing grace and mercy,  Amen.

Pray for Edinburgh to experience God’s saving grace
O LORD, our God, hear our cry!

Evening
Reading :  Genesis 47 vs 2-4
Reflect on these brothers meeting Pharaoh, after all they had done
then Pray to the God of undeserving mercy and great provision!
O LORD, hear our prayers and receive our praise!

Did you know – Sermon Archive

We have a great team of people who contribute to the Liberton Kirk website and there is always someone updating some of the pages relating to the many groups and activities that happen with in the church and the Kirk Halls.

But did you know that every Monday Derek updates the sermon archive with the latest preaching mp3 from our 11am and six30 Sunday services. You can download them to listen to later or listen directly on line.

Currently we have an archive on the site going back to 2012, with our Life Shapes series that John Young spoke on in 2009. There are many preachers, including John Young, Malcolm Jefferson, David McNeish and more as well as our special guest preachers from 2015’s Bicentenary year that include John Cameron, the previous minister at Liberton Kirk. So if you miss a Sunday, want to add to your housegroup or daily devotion time or even check out one of the services you don’t normally attend there is plenty to choose from.

Help me this day to see and hear You
And to give You the thanks at the close of day for the way You have worked among us.

Pray a blessing on the Cubs, Scouts, Beavers and Guides in our churches
Father God, hear our prayers and bless them real good we ask

Reflect on any anger shown today and pray in response
Lord Jesus, hear our evening prayers.

Meditation :  consider all that happens here – what does it say to you about
family life,  judgement,  hope  and forgiveness?

O LORD our God,
Hear our prayers,
Move among our families we ask
With Your grace and mercy and forgiving love
And may we be careful
To give You all the praise and glory
When the blessings are given to one and another.
