Tuesday Time-out

As a Church we have set aside a Tuesday each week and provided a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out. However in these times sadly it is not possible to open and run this space….

But…..our Tuesdays can still be an opportunity for time out…..with God…..where we are at home or work

You are invited to pause at some time in your Tuesday tomorrow and be still with God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

You are encouraged to speak with Him….to listen to Him.…to receive from Him…

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayer and Evening Prayer that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm. We are also encouraged to pray the Lord’s Prayer with others in our city and across our land at 5pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus.

You are invited to pray with others in our Church family as we journey through this week together…..and to listen for what God is saying to us in these particular days….

Daily Devotions for Monday 1st June, 2020

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God, the Eternal One

Reading : EZEKIEL 37 verses 1-14

Meditation : take time to consider this passage of promise this morning as your month starts.
What words or images stay with you?
What is God saying to you today?
What is your response to this promise?

Then take time to pause and Pray in response
For yourself as well as others known to you

We say together..
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on John and Lindsay and their family at this time
O LORD, hear our prayers at this time of day and give blessings we ask.

Evening
Reading : read the verses again from EZEKIEL 37
Reflect on their meaning for you and pray in response…to this God of ours

O Living and True God, hear our evening prayers
O pour out a blessing on your Church in this world
Come Holy Spirit
And flow river flow in our land!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Devotions for JUNE 2020

‘Do not quench the Spirit.’
1 Thessalonians 5 verse 19

During 2020 we are looking at standing on the promises of God – as well as dipping into Psalm 119 some weekends – pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world in this uncertain year.

In June we consider the Person and promises of the Spirit as well as dipping into the book of Revelation each weekend.

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during this year of 2020.

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

Morning
Reading and Meditation on the content and Prayer of response
Midday

Evening

Reflection and Prayer at the end of the day

A Prayer for the Month of June

Come, Holy Spirit, live in me and transform my life.
You are a most precious gift, the breath of the living God.
You bring certainty to my trembling uncertainties, focus to my disorientation.
You bring companionship in my loneliness, comfort in my sadness,
strength for my weakness, courage for my fearfulness, hope in my despair.

Come, Holy Spirit, live in me and transform my life.
You have the power to change my mundane into your special,
the power to lift my earthbound self to your glory,
the power to change my monochrome to glorious technicolour,
the power to make me, even me, your light in the world.

Come, Holy Spirit, live in me and transform my life.
Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen
