Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : JONAH chapter 4

Meditation : take the time to consider these words this Saturday morning.
Jonah’s anger. God’s compassion.
What are you encouraged and challenged by?
Which words stay with you as your day starts?

And then take time to Pray in response to this God
Confessing. Receiving. Asking.

Open our eyes Lord
That we might see your hand of compassion
Even today
Amen we pray together this new day.

Midday
Pray the Prayer for the Month as your midday prayer

O God of Isaiah
Holy Holy Holy
Is your name
In our midst

O God of Ezekiel
Spirit at work
All around
In our lives

O God of Jonah
Forgive us
When we your people
Get it wrong

Have mercy
Show compassion
In Jesus’ name
Amen

Evening
Reading : read the verses again from JONAH 4
Reflect on the words…. and then Pray in response to what you have read

LORD God, our God, hear our evening prayers.
As we worship you for who you are
As we thank you for your help this day
As we confess our sins
And name others before you
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What is God saying to you today from His Word?
What is your response to Him?

Pray to this God of ours in response
Including for all who live and work in your city and street

O Living LORD,
I read these words.
Help me let the Holy Spirit work out these truths
Even today.
May you reach out with saving grace
In my street
In our city
We call out in Jesus’ name
Amen – we pray together.

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those who take leaflets from the perspex boxes
Father God, hear our prayers and bless them real good we ask

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from JONAH 3
Reflect on the words and events here and pray in response to our God

Living LORD, hear our evening prayers and receive our praise
Forgive our grumbling even this day
for we do believe and trust in you
O help us to see your bigger picture
Even where you send us tomorrow
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

On this Thursday…as the nation continues to journey forward out of Lockdown and wrestle with new cases and variants..along with other nations in our world…. you are invited to pause and continue to pray with others in our city and across the nation…to the LORD our God, our Father God.

You are encouraged to pray for all those affected by the coronavirus – in our community, in our nation and in our world

For family and friends and neighbours

For all those grieving and mourning across the world

For NHS and Care Home staff across the nation

For our country and our national leaders at this time of decision making
