Tuesday Evening Prayer with Others

As we step into Lent later tomorrow – with God – together – you may want to revisit today’s Daily Devotions from LEVITICUS chapter 1 – as we begin to consider afresh the perfect sacrifice of Jesus

We PAUSE with the Lord in prayer

We REJOICE in the blessings He has given this day

We ASK for His presence, peace and strength – for ourselves and for others

We YIELD – say Yes – to His Kingdom ways for tomorrow

Daily Devotions for Tuesday 1st March, 2022

Upper Room day – time out with God

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Father God

Reading : LEVITICUS chapter 1

Meditation : consider this chapter… at the start of your day.
Sacrifices burnt whole.
What is God teaching/reminding you about what He expected?
How do these words relate to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross?

And then Pray in response to what you have read
Taking time to thank God for His gift of the perfect sacrifice.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
I have read these words
And now I pray for you to work them out
as a living reality in my life – even today
as I thank you that you are with me
on my journey through life.
O fill me with an attitude
Of gratitude!
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
…..and respond to His voice….
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read the verses again from LEVITICUS chapter 1

Reflect prayerfully on these words…. And then pray as your day closes

LORD God, our great God,
Thank you for Jesus – the perfect sacrifice.
I thank You,
Even for those things that have caused me fear and concern.
Help me to rest in Your unfailing love and on Your faithful Word
As I wait for tomorrow.
As I look around at this world
In these days.
Have mercy O Lord!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Time-Out Tuesday for Ukraine

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in our busy days above the Kirkgate Cafe. This is a safe place, and COVID-19 guidelines are carefully followed.
Please do remember to take a lateral flow test before you come out…..face coverings and social distancing please.

As we journey further into 2022, the Upper Room will be open this Tuesday 7.30am-7.30pm – and perhaps this will be a place for you to visit – as a place to pause and pray in particular for the situation in Ukraine and our world at this time.

* To find a quiet space to be still in a busy world
** To pause and pray with God – the God of all comfort, wisdom, mercy and hope
* To listen to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit – in these slower days and moments

There will be opportunities to pause and pray with others – at 8am – 12 noon – 7pm – and John and those who gather will be glad to share these with you as we turn in prayer with others.

You are invited to use the bench at the top left of the Kirkyard (under the large tree – weather permitting) to pause and pray – to be still with God – to ask, seek, knock, wait and receive.

Complementing our recent WORLD MISSION service, the Offering House will have a display of the breadth of the church’s missionary interests across our European, African and Asian Partners. It will remain up there until the end of this week, so, take the opportunity to visit (it will be open daily) and become better informed so as to PRAY more effectively for our contacts around the world.

You are also reminded of the Prayer Wall available on the Kirk website under the Prayer tab – a place you can bring your prayers – and ask for prayer from the Prayer Team if appropriate. At this time of new coronavirus cases you may want to add your own prayer for our world at this time.

The Daily Devotions are taking us to a daily time of considering God’s Good News with God’s written Word in the book of LEVITICUS for March – as we consider the perfect sacrifice of Jesus in this season of Lent – and you may want to pause to pray with others at the start of each day. This is available on the Kirk website blog and our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter from 7am- and in the church magazine.
And – don’t forget the brief Sunday morning Reflection at 8am…

May we each and all experience time-out with the Living and True God – whenever – wherever – as we journey through these days of 2022.

Daily Devotions for MARCH 2022

In this way the priest will make atonement for them for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven.
Leviticus 4 verse 35

During 2022 we are looking daily at the theme of GOOD NEWS as we journey with Paul through his letter to the ROMANS – and pausing at our times of Midday Devotion to pray for others in our church family, our city and our world.

In March, as we journey though Lent, we look into LEVITICUS as well as ROMANS.
Leviticus is not an easy book to chew over – but there are truths behind the words that will help us understand more about God’s Good News through the Sacrifice of Jesus.

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we journey together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions
which we started as a church family in 2015.
