Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Holy Spirit

Reading : ACTS 8 verses 26-40

Meditation : take time this morning to consider what happens here.
What is God saying to you from this part of the Bible?
What is your response to His Word this morning?

And then take time to Pray in response to the truths you have considered

O God of changed lives,
Hear my morning prayer
And by Your Spirit’s help
Make me a person in step with You
Living out Your Word
Like Philip
Even today.

Pray God’s blessings on those preparing to preach tomorrow in our land

O LORD, hear our prayers we ask and may Your Word be spoken out,
heard and received and bearing lasting fruit in these days.

Reflect and then Pray to be like Philip

LORD God, our God, hear our prayers at the end of this day and this week.

Meditation :   take time and consider how the Early Church was persecuted – and who by.   What words stay with you?
What group of churches do you know facing persecution today?

then pray in response – including for others known to you in our world

For what you have read,
For yourself and for others.) 

O Sovereign LORD, hear our prayers,
And by Your Holy Spirit sustain and protect those we name before you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray God’s blessings on those who serve as chaplains in our schools and work places.

O Father God, show mercy and hear our prayers.

Evening

Reading : read these few verses again

Reflect slowly on the words at the end of your day
and Pray in response to our God – for others in our world

O LORD, hear our evening prayers in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Meditation : consider this morning what happens here – and why.
Ponder again verses 59 and 60.

then pray in response to the living and true God

O LORD God,
Loving and true,
God of hope beyond death,
God of judgment beyond death,
Thank you for these words
And all they teach me.
May my hope in You
Help me through this day on earth
And even reach another
I so pray
