Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the Living God

Reading : MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 23-25

Meditation : take time to consider these words on this Sunday morning.
Jesus teaches…preaches..heals…
What words or images stay with you?
What is God teaching/reminding you this morning?

And then pray in response,
Naming others known to you in need of meeting with Jesus.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Midday
Pray the Lord’s Prayer as your own midday prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 23-25
Reflect on the words and images and then Pray in response at the end of your day

O LORD, our Great Healer and Teacher,
We bring our evening sacrifice of praise to you
For who you are
As we acknowledge You our Help even this day.
As we name others in need
As we pray for the Church in all corners of our world
To sing and speak of Jesus.
Amen and Amen.

Daily Devotions for Wednesday 4th January, 2023

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from God, the Three in One

Reading : MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 5-7

Meditation : consider all that is said here as your day starts.
Jesus is Tempted – again. In the desert.
Jesus overcomes the Devil – again.
What is your response to God’s written Word today?

Then turn to pray to God in response
Looking at verse 7

O LORD our God,
Thank you for all these words
And all they teach me about who you are.
Receive my sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
And help me keep my eyes upward this day
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Midday
Pray God’s blessing on those on your own prayer list
O LORD, give help and hear our prayers we ask this day.

Evening
Reading : read this passage again from MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 5-7
Reflect on the words you have read and then pray in response – to this God, our God

LORD God, our God,
God who deserves our thanks
Hear the evening prayers of your people
For we are indeed in need of rescue from this world
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Reading : MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 1-4

Meditation : take time and consider this chapter this morning.
Jesus is Tempted. In the desert.
Jesus overcomes the Devil.
What do the words mean to you at this time?
Is there a spiritual battle you are in at this time?
Is there someone you know who needs a word of encouragement?

Take time to Pray in response – including for others known to you in need at this time
Looking again at verse 4

We can but worship you this day O LORD
We can but ask for those in need or trouble this day O LORD
Help us in our trials and temptations
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday
Take time to listen for God to speak with you at this time of day
Ask and seek and knock……and hear
Father God…thank you.

Evening
Reading : read these verses again from MATTHEW chapter 4 verses 1-4
Reflect…. and then Pray as your day closes

God of the desert times and the God of my day,
The God of strong love
The God of might and power
My God, our God,
Hear our evening prayers
As we thank you for your help today
As we journey from today to tomorrow
As we name others we care about before you
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
