Journeying with God in the Daily Devotions

As we journey from 2018 into 2019 you are invited to join us on our daily pilgrimage with our God.

During 2019 we will be looking at various Bible characters and their relationship with God, and with each other – as well as a couple of Psalms each weekend – pausing in prayer at our times of Midday Devotion for others in our church family, our city and our world at this time of the year.

** There will be a call to Midday Prayer and Evening Prayer at various times during the week as we travel through the year. We started this during Advent and many have responded and been encouraged to pause and pray briefly at these times with others. **

We are all encouraged to listen for God’s voice and make our response as we start together in our ‘rhythm of devotion’ during 2019….will you join with us?

Daily Devotions for January 2019

‘Love the LORD your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your strength.’

Deuteronomy 6 verse 5

These Devotions are but one way to feed on God’s Word in the morning, at midday, in the evening… to pray with Him continually through the day and even to share with others the treasures or hurdles you discover.
The Church website and Facebook page (even on a handy mobile) provide a fuller daily devotional page. However it all follows the pattern below which the information provided fits into, based on the Kirk’s origins of the Celtic and Northumbrian traditions which we started as a church family in 2015.

A Prayer for the Month of January

O God
Of Adam and Eve
Of Abraham and Isaac
We believe in You
We trust in You
We seek to please You
Help us
Forgive us
Bless us
Lead us
Use us
Surprise us
This month
This year
In Jesus’ name
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Now and for ever
Amen

God of grace and mercy…and hope, hear our prayers
As one year ends
And another begins.

Reflect on what you read and then praise and pray to this God in response
Yesterday, today, for ever,
Jesus is the same;
All may change, but Jesus never,
Glory to His name!
Glory to His name!
Glory to His name!
All may change, but Jesus never,
Glory to His name!

Amen and Amen!

Thy Kingdom Come #Prayfor

In our land and across our world during the 10 days before Pentecost earlier this year believers and followers of Jesus were invited to pause and pray for the Kingdom of God to be experienced and evidenced anew. This was a venture created by God through the Archbishop of Canterbury and others.

As part of our daily devotional rhythm we are revisiting the 11 posts on our website and social media pages – each Saturday morning at 8am.

Today we are invited to pause in God’s presence – and bring Him our prayers for others – for them to experience God’s Kingdom blessings!

Please take a few minutes to pray your prayers for others this morning.
Lift before Him those known to you at this time.
Lay before Him those in need in our church family.
Pray for refugees and others from overseas in our city, in our community.

O LORD our God
Hear our prayers
And have mercy we ask.
In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen!
