Time Out?

What is your personal rhythm of prayer and devotion?
When do you take time-out?

As a Church we usually set aside a Tuesday each week and provide a place with space – the UPPER ROOM – a place for time-out in these busier days. In these weeks and months of lockdown 2021 it is not possible once again to open and run this space….for the moment anyhow!

However, this Tuesday instead of visiting the Upper Room you are encouraged to pause where you are…..and tarry a while with God, maybe a bit longer than usual……to wait…ask…seek…receive….

* Find a space to be still in a busy world
** For a regular time-out during this month
* Private prayer for yourself and for others
** Listening to God – Father Son and Holy Spirit

You are invited to share in the Midday Prayers and Evening Prayers that will be posted online at 12noon and 9pm on various days on the Kirk website and on our social media pages. We are also encouraged to pray with others in our city and across our land at 6pm….focussing on all those affected by the coronavirus…..and during these particular weeks you are invited to join with others and pray for all those affected afresh by the new coronavirus restrictions.

You are encouraged to take some exercise by the Government..and we would invite you to take a walk around the Kirkyard and consider what God is saying to you at this time after Easter 2021.

Daily Devotions for Monday 5th April, 2021

Morning
Look Upward and Pray to hear and receive from the LORD God, the Eternal One

Reading : ACTS 2 verses 42-47

Meditation : take time to consider these events as your day starts.
What words or images stay with you?
What is God saying to you today about His Church?

Then take time to Pray in response

LORD God,
Thank you
That all over the world Your Church is growing!
Thank you
That you haven’t finished with us yet!
Shine Jesus shine!
Spirit blaze Spirit!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Midday

Pray God’s blessing on the work of OPEN DOORS in Afghanistan
O LORD, hear our prayers at this time of day and show mercy we ask.

Evening
Reading : read the set verses again from ACTS 2
Reflect on their meaning for you and pray in response…to our God

O Living and True God, our heavenly Father, hear our evening prayers
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us even today.
O pour out a blessing on Your Church in every corner of our world we call out!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
